Blaine/Dynamo Style Mentalism Effects

Postby morrowsean » Dec 30th, '11, 21:02

Hi,

Can anyone point me in the right direction of learning mentalism performed by David Blaine/Dynamo. The ones i usually see performed are:

"Think of a person whos Important to you"

"Think of any Card"

"Think of a number between 1-1000"

Wheres a good place to start?

Cheers!

I would also add that if you want real mentalism then try looking at actual mentalists rather than these tv personalities who are famous for a fair amount of pre-show work.

"Think of someone important to you..."

Perhaps the correct answer for some of these guys would be "My TV stooge"?
Just maybe...
As above - learn mentalism from mentalists, (try Corinda and an updated presentation, or a book by Bob Cassidy").
Also, search this forum for Craig Browning, and read, and learn everything he says.
Trying to learn mentalism from Blaine and Dynamo is going to be as succeddful as trying to buy some cement from a DVD shop.

Neither Blaine or Dynamo are mentalists. If you are drawn to mentalism please look further and watch a real mentalist.

What you see those guys performing is mental magic and not actual mentalism. A good read of Craig Browning's essays will soon set you in the right direction. If you are looking for modern and commercial mentalism then look to the work of Riggs, Looch, Colin Mcleod and Paul Brook.
