Corporate Banquet Tricks / Routines

Postby Jing » Jan 2nd, '12, 19:23

Any ideas on routines / tricks / suggestions for this environment.
I'm thinking some of my close up stuff would be OK, but am looking for ideas for close up magic, that plays a bit larger, so everyone can be involved. Large tables, 10 - 12 people on them... so something visual, but I can carry it in my pockets.

If it's something I'm carrying already, cards, coins, elastic bands, etc... then that's a bonus too.

Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

Something like Copwaked by Paul Gordon would be ideal as that uses JUmbo cards. If you want a good card routine for corporate then try scoop and kick back kings by Lee Smith. Before i had to stop magic this is what i used, i also used chop cups a lot for tables.

Glad you used those routines two of my favourites.

For tables of 10-12 I just use the same close up effects as usual. I often save the stronger effects for the tables if I am doing walk about as well. But I use the same material for both.

If you find you have not got the full tables attention with the smaller stuff then move around and show things around the whole able This way you will always get everyone involved.

Lee.

Do a little research on the corporate. Perhaps include their logo or their product in one of your routines. Book test with some of their brochures..or a comedy reference to their competitor's products (e.g. removing the 'jokers' from a pack)
Check with the person who hired you that any ideas are workable/appropriate.

I'm with Lee, for a table that size, I'd just use my usual close up routines but perhaps if I feel the need to, perform for one end of the table and then again for the other end.

Thank you, Stephen. Yes, COPWAKED is, imho, a goodie for bigger work as it is very visual, multi-climaxed...and resets fast.
