Statistical questions ( drawings )

Postby Samba » Jan 6th, '12, 23:36

Hello,

Before I ask the question: When I perform drawing duplications, or any routine involving drawings, the patter I use hopefully traps the spectator into a psychological corner I want.

Has anyone got really weird "out of the blue" drawings ? The most unexpected drawing up till now for me was sort of a vortex, but squares. I did use another patter that time ( just draw anything, don't make it too weird, or too simple ) and the spectator took some time until he thought of something.

So, I'm not asking about the common ones, but what weirder images have you bumped into ?

Why am I asking ? It'll be helpful information in my "index" of thoughts really ... :)

Thank you,

I don't really do this kind of thing but I remember reading about this in Psychological Subtleties by Banachek, incase you haven't read it yet. Otherwise sorry for not being of much help.

Yes but it discusses the common ones. I'd like to know what rare cases came up.

Anytime you use statistical commons you have that chance of a miss but then too, as an entertainer your odds of hitting a prankster are even greater and thus, the two biggest reasons you'll have such things happen, the other centers on how you word things; it's an art/skill and one that takes a while to develop and contrary to the assumption of some, not everyone has the knack it takes to make this sort of thing work 100%

You may wish to avail yourself to Enrique Enriquez's "Invisible" series, they will give you a wonderful "out" as will the "The Practical Psychic's Little Black Book".

As to "strange" drawings, the few I've seen were typically pornographic. :?

At the beginning of my cabaret routine (bear in mind I've only done it about five times) I ask a member of the audience to pick a category: shapes, letters or numbers. So far they have always said shapes. I then ask for three shapes. A square, circle or triangle will be the first two options the last has always been a hexegon.

Like I said I've only done this routine five times, in a stage situation and with alcohol involved. So it's by no means a sure thing.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Syringe, guitar(which from reading Banachek's psi subtleties, I read that guitar/thumbtack-like drawings could be covered)

NM could help this with some 'timing' and critical thinking;)

I like using shape forces to force objects.

When crafting your words for statistical forcing, the Naked Mentalism books (volumes I and II) by Tomo will be very useful.

I think the more abstract the subject you ask them to draw, the more sensible the drawing.
E.g.
draw a feeling = smiley face or sad face.
draw something representing completness = circle

¿ sɹoɹɹıɯ ʎq ǝuop ןןɐ sʇı
"who? no I dont know him", Derren Brown
"no idea who he is !", Kenton Knepper
"Is he a magician ?", Penn&Teller
