I'm currenty using standard bicycle decks (red & blue), and I need some new cards for more polished performaces, should the need arise, and I'm thinking about ordering a dozen decks of bicycle cards from the internet, but the only thing is they are rider back, as opposed to standard.

I've heard the term rider back, but I'm not familiar with the difference between standard bicycle and rider back bicycle?

Can anyone enlighten me as to the difference and their personal prefrences between the two?

They are exactly the same thing. When USPCC was sold, the box designs changed and what was known as the Rider 808s became known as standard.

I wasn't entirely sure there was a difference, that's why I was asking.

I had read a few things on other forums about the two decks having slightly different sized cards, about the spots being different sizes, & about the spots being slightly faded on rider back decks.

Any truth to these claims or not?

Thanks mark, that clears up a few things.

I originally thought the rider back was just another variation of standard, like they have ghost decks, ESP decks, etc.

I was selling these on eBay and got a complaint that they thought they were buying rider backs but they were standards. The only difference is the box.

If I'm correct there are some vintage Bicycles cards which are called Riderbacks, they picture a man riding a big victorian bicycle, with the huge front wheel.

I may be wrong. Either way what's been said also makes sense and I'd say that in this instance Riderback is the same as Standard.

I think hds is right about the vintage but yes riderbacks and standards are the same thing, especially if you are looking at buying a brick of them. I'd expect a brick of vintage cards would cost a fair bit more than standard bikes.

If you mean the guy in the vid, he owns a playing card shop and is a collector, so I guess its his job to notice the difference and let his customers know.
