Help! My supply teacher is magic.

Postby daxi » Jan 12th, '12, 22:49

Coming soon on the BBC Childrens TV channel CBBC. This coming Tuesday at about 5.30 I believe.
Magical things start to happen when a group of magicians go undercover into schools and try to convince kids they are real supply teachers!

There will be 13 episodes each 30 minutes in length. The 4 magicians involved are Fergus Flanagan, Katherine Mills, James Went and John Archer.

Regular features will include: Tricks of the Trade, where the magicians demonstrate to kids how to do tricks on their friends; Interactive Illusion, which will feature tricks people can play at home; Undercover Magic, where the magicians are unleashed on the public; and That Was Awesome, which will feature the magicians performing together.

It never rains , but it pours. :)

Just when you thought the BBC had filled its magic show quota for the year with the current series of Magicians, Tuesday 17.45 on the CBBC channel sees the start of a new series " Help! My supply teacher is magic " Staring John Archer, James went,Katherine Mills, and Fergus Flanagan. Based on the Hidden camera premise, this series has been produced by Objective Productions.

This show is fantastic! I hope you managed to see it. If not look it up on i player.

There is so much magic, and absolutely no exposure . The back-room team headed by Anthony Owen consists of Andi Gladwin, Scott Penrose, & Jim Steinmyer.
3 of magics most Imaginative guys there is, and it shows.
I particually liked what they did with the weller egg.
Briliant!

I doubled about this show so I have reported my thread & will transfer my comment to here.
It was the best magic programme I have seen for a while. Some lovely simple illusions, all the tricks done well. The reactions of the youngsters was good, the programme was everything it promised to be.
It was also good to see young magicians being encouraged to send in video of themselves doing tricks & those tricks being shown.
My youngest daughter, who is 11, was blown away with the trick involving the two elastic bands. "WOW Could I learn to do that??" And thats the first time she has shown any interest in anything but watching magic.

My daughter now has Nicholas Einhorn's The Art of Magic & some cards in her lap as she watches The Simpsons & tries tricks.

I watched this on BBC Player yesterday and it was very good. As it's aimed at youngsters the presenter is very 'gosh... wow... amazing' but the magic itself is excellent - good to see crazy man's handcuffs done so well and I really liked the clock thing! The magicians did the biz very well indeed - can we lobby for them to be on prime time TV sometime soon please?

I've just finished watching it on the iplayer, it was much better than I was expecting it to be! The format of the show was much less grating than the magicians is. (Which is okay, I just don't like the voting/celebrity angle of it too much)

It was nice to see younger children sending in videos of themselves doing tricks too, makes me wish that i'd got into magic a bit earlier! :)

Second programme has just been on & it was every bit as good. Several of the youngsters doing tricks were excellent as well.

My daughter loved the psychokinesis pen falling over demonstration & said I know how thats done. So I showed her Richard Wisemans Paranormality, as she did not know how it was done.
She then spent a lot of practising with the falling over pen trick, finding that soft surfaces were unhelpful. And was then able to show off her new psychic powers to mum when she got back from work.
