Card Trick Recommendations

Postby Concept82 » Jan 23rd, '12, 14:46

Hi Guys,

I was wondering could you guys recommend any card tricks for me to learn. I would prefer if the deck didn’t require any pre setup first. The techniques I have are, false shuffles, DL, if the spectator puts their card on the top I can shuffle it to the bottom or back to the top.

That’s the kind of standard I’m at so would really appreciate it if anyone could recommend the names of any tricks that would suit me.

Thanks a lot

Invest in a copy of The Royal Road to Card Magic and you'll have a great resource for tricks using those sleights and a learning resource for other sleights and handlings.

Lee Smith & Gary Jones - iCandy. Great magic and easy to learn, when you get more confident you may like the two Paul Gordon DVDs. Before i stopped performing regular magic this was some of the material i was using.

I'll second the recommendation of The Royal Road to Card Magic. If you're just starting out then this is invaluable. It starts you off with the basic core techniques and at the end of each section it will explain a few basic tricks that you can do with that you've just learnt. Nothing's too difficult and it will be a great place to start.

I'm sure this won't be the last time you hear about this book in this thread.

Buy it, you can pick a copy up dirt cheap so there's no reason not to.

Hello Concept,

When I began my learning process in card magic just over a year ago now.
I found Gerry Griffin's 4 dvd set to be very helpful.

"Complete Card Magic" Over 120 effects from complete beginner to more advanced moves.
All very well explained, with good camera angles, & great value for money.

Hope this helps.
