First edition?

Postby magic_chocice » Jan 25th, '12, 20:02

Hey Guys and Gals,

I have been recently thinking about getting a first edition of Bobo's coin magic as it is the book that got me into magic. How much do you think I would pay for one? If I can find one that is.

Google around, prices are in the region of £35-£45 from second hand bookshops.

Thanks Mandrake. That is very reasonable for a first edition. I shall let you know when I fund one.

I bought my copy last September from a bookshop in Cromer and it was still in the original mailing box. However, if I need to check anything in Bobo I still use the cheapo Dover paperback!

How funny, I was in the same bookshop around the same time I think. I was touring there with a theatre show and I went in inbetween shows. The guy had about 4 boxes of magic books from a house clearance. I spent alot of money that day. If I had known you were going to be in before and buy the Bobo, I would have got there before you *Shakes fist in air*. Tee Hee

Small world isn't it?

|Did the guy tell you that the house he cleared belonged to someone inthe Civil Service, assumed to be in the Intelligence Service? Plenty of stuff from retirement and childhood but nothing from his working life or career, nothing with identification, no roots or anything which could verfify who he was.....

I take it you were at Cromer Pier Theatre? Great place and, so we were told, the only pier theatre in the UK which still creates and produces it's own Summer Season.

No he didn't tell me that. That is rather interesting. He told me the guy must have been a magician, due to the amount of magic props and books he had. I think he said the man's name was Guy Higgins. Some of the books have his name in anyway.

It was the theatre on the pier. Beautiful venue. It was the smallest we did on the tour but one of the most memorable. Very intimate.
