Hi,

Just be yourself and be polite and go straight into your magic if they dont want to see anything you can leave no harm done (99.9% they will). Hit them hard with something fast and visual to keep them wanting more.

This might help a bit for the initial intro?

This is a routine I use for Ice Breaking all the time.
Just come across as confident and have fun.

"Hey Guys, I'm Danny, and I'm the house-magician here, So the question is, would you like to see some magic? ;)"

The most important thing is attitude, the worse thing that's gonna happen (and it will at some point) someone will say "No Thanks", either their not in the mood, not well, or just not a fan of magic. Either-way you have nothing to worry about, when I'm table-hopping I'm just having fun, most of the time the restaurant have to remind me that my shift finished 10 minutes ago!

Enjoy it, and good luck!! :)

Just had a look at this dvd Lee.
I really like this material, & was looking to add more magic dvd's to my library.
Gonna have a look to see who's offering the best price, & order it today.

Not wanting to rob the thread, but how many more dvd's do you have on the market, & IYHO, which is you favourite?

CArl...

Good luck for the weekend m

I used icebreaker by Lee as an opener all the time, and IF i do get back into magic i will use it again as an opener. It is simple, fun and a great performance piece.

I think all the advice you've been given has been spot on. The only thing I can add is a recommendation for Performing Magic to the Public by Stephen Ward (yes, him who just posted above me!). There's an excellently written review here and you can purchase the book either as a download or print copy here.

Unless I'm mistaken, Stephen's offering a 50% discount at the moment. I've already said £20 is undercharging for the advice in this book, half of that is plain robbery!

You are not entering FISM. so forget knuckle dusters and keep to the simple and strong magic. I often used Icebreaker, Paul Gordon Diminishing? Not Likely! etc. Good simple card magic that is easy to perform and impresses the crowd.

Good luck with the gig! Have fun :)

And at some stage, get Stephens book about performing magic... you won't learn any new tricks, but it's full of real world advice about being professional at what you do!

But mostly... enjoy it!
