Ellusionist Shadow Masters Deck

Postby Freestyler » Jan 31st, '12, 03:41

Hello people,

Could anyone give me really good idea's, on how to use the reveal barcode and joker into a trick? been thinking and everything i have come up has been a bit simple or poor to be honest.

Got one of these decks today and it's beautiful, would love to use the 'extras' so to speak as part of a trick.

thanks :)

Force that particular card in any trick where a random card is selected, then at the end you can use it.

you could do it as an ambitous card they just say something like "i knew you where going to pick this cad as its on the barcode look"

What's nice about the barcode reveal is that it can be read as 3 of spades or 07 spades.

To prepair you need a 7 and 3 of spades with different coloured backs or a distinct marking.

You put the box with the barcode in view and ask the spectator to name a number between 1 and 10, it's likely they'll say either 7 or 3, if they don't just go into another card trick.

Lets say they pick a seven, you go through the deck, secretly remove the three of spades and lay out the seven of hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs, and use a magicians choice force (Equivocation) to narrow it down to seven of spades. Make a big deal about you not touching the cards.

Remind them at this point that they could have picked any suite and number, and that you never touched the cards, then reveal that the seven of spades is the only card in the deck with a different back, and as a pseudo explanation you show them the barcode.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

I notice you've got devils picture book, there's a method in there on how to force a jack.

I do think the strength of the barcode is to use it as a pseudo explanation rather than a reveal.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

I have an idea using the joker, give the non-gimmick joker to one of the audience and tell them it is a prediction but keep it a secret (or just give the gimmick if they won't get a chance to study it, but I think the following version is stronger). Then force the card on the person and perform whichever trick you like and take back the joker from the other audience member and switch it for the gimmick. I would try to make it look like you are pretending to perform a sleight, as the cards are 'identical' you could get away with a bit of forced clumsiness so perhaps just a flick swap-switch as if it was a magic wave. Then they can study the joker and see their prediction, the other member will hopefully react with 'damn I missed that' or even better 'that definitely wasn't there, wow I bet you can walk on water' so hopefully getting two people involved...
