Newsflash 2.0 is very good but expensive.

The Great Suprendo said his version came out of a book but I don't know which book it was, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiO5Ngi45O0

I agree,

Both are very strong effects. Both are best kept separate so one is not lost against the other.

If you want a good TNR I still think the best and most practical is Daniel Garcia's Torn or Rehab by Cameron Francis. May want to check out Torched as well. Or for something a bit different Wayne Fox has a brilliant Flash Restoration called - Make Amends.

There are so many out there it will be a case of checking them all and seeing which one best fits your style. The ones above are I think the best for the worker.

I know it's not a torn and restored card but Shawn Farquhar's Torn 2 Pieces is a very nice variation on the idea but using a photo instead of a card.

I remember seeing an interview with Patrick Page where he advises against mixing effects. It always appeals to magicians while we're planning routines, but it can undervalue the effects. The example he gives is using card to wallet at the end of an ACR (as a lot of people do). He says it's better to do CTW on its own as its a powerful effect. Doing it together means that people will just forget the ACR and remember the ending. I'd say it applies for torn and restored card too...

In terms of torn and restored cards...don't overlook the one in Mark Wilson's Complete Course (just assuming you already have it...)

Do you know, I REALLY must have a re-read of my Wilson's Complete; I'd totally forgotten there was even a T&R in there!

Page 42 in mine, just checked it. There's a lot of good card stuff hidden away in there. Sandwhiched Aces is also pretty good...

Totally. I think we all do it, layer effects on top of each other. It seems really impressive when we're thinking it up and rehearsing it. There are some really good closers for ACRs, but T&R is wasted on it.

Have a look at Darryl's or Jay Sankey's videos on the ACR for some good closers. I'm a big fan of bringing in other objects for the finish, tape, bulldog clip, staple gun (just an idea lol).

I tried to find the interviews with Patrick Page, but they've been taken off youtube...http://www.geniimagazine.com/forums/ubb ... ber=193706
