I think it's just practice, at first you'll get through them like nobody's business but once you've learnt what you can do with them and what their limits are I've found that they can last a long time. You can always try making your own loops, I put a little blutac on the ends of the thread so I can find them easily and tri them around a bottle.

Nope, no way that you can fix it. You'll get through a few of those to start with, I think my first pack lasted me the whole of about two days. You could pickup some elastic thread and try making your own, it does save a lot of money when you work out how to do it.

Don't worry about it, they will break, that is the cost of working with such material. You can practice with rubber bands but you are wasting your time and effort because the properties are vastly different, what you accomplish with your 'practice rubber band' you will not be able to re-create effectively with the thread.

want to work with the medium? Prepare to buy loops or make you own, prepare for fustration and plenty of it.

As others have already mentioned, working with Loops (of any pedigree) is a learning-curve; you'll go through quite a number of loops, while you're getting used to handling them - it's not a discipline that you're going to master in a few hours (or possibly even a few days!).

If you have the gumption (ey-up, lad!) to stick with it, and put in the hours of practise - though - you'll have a mini-miracle that you can carry on your person daily, and always be ready to perform.

Is it worth the effort? Only you can provide the answer to that one

Making your own (at least to practice with) is the way to go, initially.

The Million Dollar Knot is an instant download (though is oddly showing as 'Out of Stock' at Penguin - perhaps because they were bundling it with P.E.T....perhaps drop them an email about this!), so you can grab it straight away!

I started mucking around with loops recently, i've been really cautius and haven't had trouble with them breaking at all. I purposefully avoided practicing with rubber bands or sewing thread because i thought i might get used to the extra strength that these materials have and then destroy my loops in a couple of hours. My advice for anyone would be to start off REALLY cautious and build up how much you throw them around over a couple of days, like i said, this was my approach and i've only broken one in a week or so. Anyone who'se played around with these at all will realise straight away that its going to take a while to master so a couple of extra days learning correct tensions isnt going to make too much difference. That my 2 cents anyway, based on my experience from the last week or two (i.e. not a lot!)

My main problem has been making everything look natural, often my hookup is really obvious and then, for example with the ring levitation, when i do get it 'levitating' it looks very obviously (to me at least) like it is being suspended by a string. This is where the real subtlety and art lies i guess, methinks i have a loooong way to go yet before i take these out in the open.

I believe that Nothing Up My Sleeve's S.T.EL.TH Loops system book would have been the answer to your prayers but it is now out of print I believe. I have been searching for it myself to no avail so if anybody can help you know where I am......

As has been said before, this is the nature of the Beast when working with IT.

its all trial and error.......... breaking the loop above the knot isnt hard, but if you break too close it will just fall apart so bare that in mind!!!!

you can use any kind of thread you want to make the loops...... its just somthing that is, again, trial and error...... you will find out with experimentation which thread works best for you!!

never bought it mate so cant suggest where to.......

and it will save you money in the long run..... if you go through enough loops then it pays for itself quite quickly

stretching the loop is just to get some tretfh in it before using it..... you'd be best to do it wether you made it or not

Yigal Mesika's loops

Postby deadweasel » Feb 29th, '12, 14:24

Hi there.

I am just starting to try and do decent tricks and not just kiddy tricks and I have just bought yigal mesika's loops. I put one on and couldn't help noticing that they were quite obviously because they are black against my white hands. Is this a common problem or is it just because I know it's there so it's easier to see? Also can you get skin coloured loops and would these work better?

Thank you for any advice you can give me
