Bound deck

Planning on an effect with this where I will get an audience to throw the deck around. Pick a card, in the usual way for the effect, throw to someone else etc etc. However i would like to have quite a few people involved, and when I read out the predictions I'd like it to not be too obvious.

So as far as I can see I've 2 options(I'm sure people here will have more but I'm somewhat new to this).
1) Read out the predicitons very quickly.
2) Mix 2 decks together?

Is the second one likely to work, and how can I tell in advance if the 2nd deck will be worth the investement.(Have I been too vague, not sure)

What it sounds like you are want is a tossed out deck type of thing. If its what you're looking for, then i recommend Wayne Dobsons DVD "Unclamped". His presentation of it is impecable and the reveal is something that i think alot of performers use now. If its something else that your looking for then I apoligise for my ramblings. :)

Possibly, I've done the bound deck a bit with 2 people, and I was trying to think of a way to use it with a group of children; in an assembly (I'm a teacher, sorry). Then I saw Pete Firman do it on Magicians with a Bucket, and thought good idea, but I'd probably lamp one of them with the pole, and I didn't want to steal an idea that they may have seen before....

I wanted to get it to 5+ and wanted them to be spread out....and also not looking at me (yes odd for a teacher), so I figured throwing it would work....but wanted more outs.

Thanks, I see it's also on his Look no hands routine, so I'll look into that.

you seem to be making work for yourself, when you dont need to.

why do 5, when 3 is as impressive? :)
you then have one on the left, one in the middle, and 1 on the right.
more, and you will find it harded to do a convincing reveal, which by your post, is something your finding out.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Magicians as a group tend to believe more is better, larger is more impressive. The reality is the exact opposite. Magicians know how its done, or the principal involved so yes, we for our own entertainment sometimes need more. Lay people? Be quick and dirty, the more involved the faster you lose the audience.

Thank you for the advice and reasons behind it. I'll continue to ponder on it.

The 5 was part to do with the year groups of a school, and not wanting people to drop the cards if they had to throw too far.

You're probably right that I'm over complicating to avoid an issue that's unlikely to come up, and creating more problems in the process.
