Macdonald's $100 ace assembly

Postby hds02115 » Mar 21st, '12, 04:39

A friend of mine was asking recently about where he could get his hands on some of the cards required for the named effect, Macdonald's $100 ace assembly. I was unsure if you were able to simply buy the cards and I'm assuming that if it was that simple he wouldn't have been asking.

My question is this, where can you get your hands on these special cards? Of course this is a bit of an ambiguous question so if you are a little unsure about what I'm asking, PM me.

If not, does it mean his best bet is to buy a deck of similarly special cards and hope they contain the right ones?

Quite possibly they are sold under a different name considering the original effect came from 60's, if I'm correct.

If you go to the Card Collection http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/ you will find them. Direct links don't always work properly from there so just type 'bicycle four ace routine' into the search function and a list will appear featuring them.

Andi Gladwin ( who does a specacular presentation of the effect by the way) tells me that the cards required, are standard in all gaffed sets these days, as the routine is so popular.

If you mean the classic version with DFers then you get 8 in a deck of the gaffs. They're usually around 6 or 7 pounds a deck, which will give you two sets of the required cards (with two left over).
