online salesman claiming to hold all secrets..

Postby johnnyryanUK » Sep 6th, '12, 15:29

Please comfort me and tell me it's all a scam that these people online claim to hold all of magics most sectrective secrets in a booklet, please tell me it's just a con so I feel better about myself haha! There's so many of these 'ultimate mind reading' courses etc that claim to reveal magics most secret clues. (I.e. point blank mind reading)

Kind regards :)

They are stealing other people's material in some cases. Avoid them at all costs

As a rule, any of those sites that are just one long advert page are usually a scam. Gravity alone knows why they all look the same.

Totally agree with what the boys have said, those things are always just a copy of other people's ideas. Keep well clear of them and buy from people who you trust.

The truth is as everyone has already noted but there is another way to weigh such claims, a simple question you can ask yourself. "How could a simple booklet have "all" the secrets?"

The largest magic library I'm aware of is that of the Magic Castle and were talking hundreds of square feet of literature spanning more than 150 years and at least 4 primary languages -- hundreds if not thousands of books, magazines, videos, etc. and it is still seen as being "incomplete". Given this truth, how could anyone make such a claim and it be legit?

There are probably less than three-dozen people on the planet right now, that have an uncanny and above average knowledge of magic and its general history and at that, each of these people have specific areas of study; the only know a whole lot on one or two key areas within the craft. If the publication in question isn't coming from one of these individuals or a collaboration by such a group, it would likewise be impossible for it to be "All Inclusive"

More than not, such material offers a glimpse into the currently popular Tv hype type material and at that, it's rarely accurate. The information is bait used to lure the uneducated and eager to a site that will allow the "Pirate" to sell you more and more material that is not in legally sanctioned distribution . . . they are cutting the creator and merchandisers out of the loop and pocketing the cash.

As has been said, AVOID such people and report them WITHOUT posting links publicly (people will always click the link supposedly out of curiosity and though most will deny it, many will take advantage of what is found. If this weren't the case such sites wouldn't exist.)

As with other scams, there are enough people who are tempted to buy stuff simply because they don't know any better. Unless you have access to the Magic Castle or Magic Circle libraries, stick with Mark Wilson, Bobo, RRTCM, 13 Steps and similar works - they probably do contain the vast majority of magic secrets and don't cost a fortune. A few years ago a book was published which rather cheekily claimed to contain and reveal the secrets to every magic trick. Inside it explained that it contained a lot of very basic methods which would be and certainly were used in many different routines therefore the cover claim was as accurate as possible! IMHO a good book,I think there may have been a review on here at some point.

Mandrake: There is a better one than that.
I bought a copy from the Houston, Texas, County Library--this via the excellent Better World Books (http://www.betterworld.com" target="_blank) who buy up rejects, withdrawn etc. books.
The Texas copy had never been taken out.

It is:
All TYhe Secrets Of Magic Revealed--1994, published by Lifetime Books Inc.
Author is Herbert L becker--better???known as The Great Kardeen.
There is even a chapter with David Copperfield's name at its heading. But not by him!
And every chapter has the biggest names in magic at their heading!!!

144 pages of the biggest laughs you will get in Magic. Better than the old Mad Book Of Magic.

The nearest solution is a badly drawn Zig Zag Lady.
The Tiger to Assistant as performed??? by Siegfried & Roy, has the tiger walking out of the back of the cage and through the back curtains UNSEEN BY THE AUDIENCE.
My favourite effect The Floating Ball--The Ball is held up by invisible string!!
Wish I had thought of that. Saved me a year's work on working out my method!
Lots more. Cannot lend the book as my pencilled in remarks would cause the vicar's collar to choke him.

At the end of the Chapter on The great, sorry--Great Kardeen-- it says -'from 1978 till 1993 (year the book was penned) Kardeen had not been heard from. He begins to yearn once more for the stage.. He wants to make a comeback into Show Business. He is beginning the long road back to performance stardom. Watch for Kardeen and see history in the making'.
I cannot wait!
Never heard of the man since!!!

Thankyou all for giving me this information as I would probably drive to insanity knowing these individuals possess such information. It annoys me these people prey off people new to magic (like myself) and it's just such a shame these websites cannot be shut down. I agree to gain such in-depth knowledge and secrets requires a lot more than doddling around (if doddling is even a word lol). It can be very easy to get sucked into these traps as an amateur in the art.. *shakes fist*

Magicians have secrets ??????

Only the curious public think magicians have secrets.
Most so-called secret stuff is just a re-hash of existing stuff that is already published somewhere.

This review from Amazon made me chuckle:

This book explains only a few tricks, mostly do-it-yourself tricks with cards, coins, rope and cups. I was expecting a book to explain some of the tricks shown on stage by professionals, but there were none of those. I buy from Amazon.com often, but this was the first book I've ever returned after looking thru it for only a few minutes. Very disappointing!

Where are you hearing these things?

I have NEVER heard anything good about Royale and his hustles. He's been booted off numerous forums because of his constant self-promotion on nearly every thread and rarely delivers anything productive to them. The bulk of what he offers is, based on what others have stated, questionable. . . especially when it comes to the prices asked.

Even Mark Lewis mocks and laughs at the clown.
