Apologies for this rather self indugent post but I thought I'd tell you all about my very first evening with the Pentacle Club.......... Living in Huntingdon and not knowing any magi I decided I needed to join a magic club. I stumbled across The Pentacle Club who meet on alternate Mondays throughout most of the year, in Cambridge (nice and close to me). I was a bit worried at first as lots of clubs are quite cliquey and you can often find yourself standing alone and looking rather desperate. Not this club. A nicer bunch of chaps I couldn't have hoped for. They made me feel extremely welcome and completely at ease. There was a lecture by a childrens entertainer (Billy biscuit) who was excellent. Even though this style of entertainment isn't in keeping with my own I still took a lot from it. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and by the end of it, I found I'd entered a stage competition which is due to take place in October at a local Restaurant/pub. I have to deliver a 10 - 12 minute routine. This will technically be my first real performance in front of a live audience (who aren't related to me in some fashion) so I'm extremely nervous but determined to give it a good shot. I'll report back on how many hecklers I had to beat down!
