Wow, you're a handful!
I think you are directing this to yourself for some reason.
A lot of people get involved with Magic, Puppets & Juggling because they're introverted for whatever reason, and need a vehicle by which to be accepted by others . . . or so they think. This is especially pronounced in persons with issues like ADD and Aspergers but they're certainly not alone.
Yes, there are the jerks that learn magic simply because they want to know it all and many of them take on the campus jock assholiness, seeking to suppress the un-assured by pressuring them and even attempting to up-stage them. My suggestion being to simply ignore them, they're a lot more insecure than you are, which is why they act and do things so overtly.
Butterflies/performance anxiety/stage fright are normal no matter what you're doing; human beings endure this condition before getting in front of a group of others no matter who they are. Many noted celebrities have horrid stage fright; throwing up prior to a live show is not unusual. It is our love of the stage, our passion and commitment to our art and our addiction to the applause that keeps us going however; our ego gets feed what is hungers for and in many cases, so does our soul. How could it not? We see that twinkle in the eyes of young & old alike as we do our thing and with time we learn that this is far more special than the clapping and cheers or letters of merit, for we have given a sense of genuine magic to others.
