think maybe your not eneough of a people person?

I have heard it said " i couldn't do what you do i get to nerveous and I'm to shy, these were two of my biggest obstacles not feeling like i was the right personality for the job, nerves like jello shy as ever and not the best people skills actually these obstacles will only prove to serve you better if you stick with it and create a character and learn to overcome these fears. In knowing how much you need to improve in this area will help you to keep improving, it is those who are so comfortable with their personality that do it on the fly with no pre concieved patter or preparation that often fail to make the effect as good as it could be had they put alot more thought into the presentation, if you don't feel like you need to improve yourself your likely to stay mediocre at best, I've heard the world known magicians say they are still learning and still working on inproving effects they have done for years while some relatively newbies say i got this one down perfectly and flawlessly and it beautiful
and i just got it yesterday, come on you dont master an effect in 24hrs if you do then great for you but i have a suspision the presentation could be better if more thought went into it just my two cents worth. dont practice till you get it right practice till you cant get it wrong and keep trying to think of better or different ways to patter and present it, presentation is 90 % of what makes the trick great.

Wow, you're a handful!

I think you are directing this to yourself for some reason.

A lot of people get involved with Magic, Puppets & Juggling because they're introverted for whatever reason, and need a vehicle by which to be accepted by others . . . or so they think. This is especially pronounced in persons with issues like ADD and Aspergers but they're certainly not alone.

Yes, there are the jerks that learn magic simply because they want to know it all and many of them take on the campus jock assholiness, seeking to suppress the un-assured by pressuring them and even attempting to up-stage them. My suggestion being to simply ignore them, they're a lot more insecure than you are, which is why they act and do things so overtly.

Butterflies/performance anxiety/stage fright are normal no matter what you're doing; human beings endure this condition before getting in front of a group of others no matter who they are. Many noted celebrities have horrid stage fright; throwing up prior to a live show is not unusual. It is our love of the stage, our passion and commitment to our art and our addiction to the applause that keeps us going however; our ego gets feed what is hungers for and in many cases, so does our soul. How could it not? We see that twinkle in the eyes of young & old alike as we do our thing and with time we learn that this is far more special than the clapping and cheers or letters of merit, for we have given a sense of genuine magic to others.

I mentioned in the very first line of the post, this was two of my biggest obstacles, the writing was not for myself but hopefully to encourage others like me and if a need for acceptance or the desire to overcome being introverted is someones reason for getting involved with magic, so what.. hope it helps them accomplish what they need, it helped me out sufficiently
