Entrapment is coercing people into committing a crime that they would otherwise not have committed. It seems that these freetards had already committed large numbers of crimes and were keen to carry on doing so by the looks of the lists of stolen stuff that have been published. The details of one guy (Luke Clough) that have been published on Facebook say he has 300GB of ebooks to trade. The forum they're coming from was shut down when the owner realised that MAP was on to them for trading stolen goods. All they're doing is looking for a new home to carry on stealing. These are not innocent people.

I recognised a name or two, but knowing them, I'm far more inclined to believe that they were checking to see how much of their stuff was being traded.

It's my understanding that they had to show what they have to trade to get access. Producers are not automatically anti-theft ;)

A facebook message today says they have removed the names and account details of these guys, but then also points to two blogs where someone else has listed them!

No there was no entrapment, they said they only exposed people who accessed the website before they posted it on facebook. So the people on the list, were already looking for exposure websites.

Oh goody a witch hunt mentality, that's going to be fun.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

There's only one real reason why a freetard would prove in writing that he has lots of stolen goods to trade, so more power to the guy who thought this little sting. It's about time these people were made to pay. If information is their stock in trade then so be it!

And yet there is at least one moderator on the Cafe that got caught red handed by Rick Maue and I, trying to peddle Rick's Book of Seance Secrets. The Cafe is filled with bootleggers and horse traders. Brook's has a very long history of supporting such people, including those that have been taken to court by Harary and a few other big prop developers. So let's not try painting the Cafe as being a place for the sainted, it's not!

The other thing to bear in mind is that some of the loudest mouths around this issue, are the most guilty when it comes to horse trading.

While bulk level piracy is still an issue and probably always will be, I think we've seen it grow less and less potent in the past decade because of various laws that cover the Internet and Torrent/File Share situations as well as companies, like Amazon, who've been progressive when they are informed of a questionable product (eBay as well). If such pressure continues and we don't get lazy about it, I think progress will be made. Problem is however, the majority of people that bitch about such things are the creators of said material and a smattering of their fans. . . and as I've said before, this problem wouldn't exist if members of our own society weren't exploiting it. . . something that's quite common when it comes to physical props, many of the hack made props proving to be quite dangerous at times, and certainly less than dependable over multiple performances.
