being bad

Postby devilstick Peat » Dec 29th, '12, 11:56

this summer I was working at a festival. My 7 year old little girl saw someone doing pea and shell. She'd never seen it before and went over to see what was happening. I decided that, rather than warn him that daddies in "the club", Id just sit back and watch the fun as he tries to use slight of hand and misdirection on someone who's grown up knowing not to listen, not to be distracted, just watch and think. It took him nearly 5 minutes of being correctly told just where he'd put the pea before he managed to actually confuse her as to where it was.
the look on his face as she would say things like "it's not under any of them, its in that hand there" was great to watch.
I'm just wondering if I'm the only bad man out there, or if others have similar tales
ps. if your that magician, sorry

I escaped nearly joining the Magic Circle because I did that once! Actually I was at a restaurant in London with my girlfriend of the time and there was a table hoping magician. There weren't too many people at the place so he ended up coming by our table a couple of times. After I paid the check and we were walking up to him, I asked if I could try a trick on him as I was a "beginner" and wanted his feedback. I played it like Lennart Green. Fumbly hands then produced a miracle. Afterwards I came clean and we chatted for a bit and wanted to sponsor me for the MC. Well, then he helped himself to my girlfriend and... well... I never took him up on his offer!

I used to be an Apple "Genius". And, in the mall the store was in there was a couple of teenagers that would come in occasionally and walk around doing XCM style magic. I was walking by one of them on my break doing card tricks for a cute girl working one of the kiosks, so I hung around and watched their show. Then when there was a good lull I did my DB style mindreading effect and they were visibly pi**ed I took the attention completely away from them. Especially since the girl was far more impressed. That's really the only rude thing I have done like that!

LOL Well, even though her and I ended up dating for a year after that incident, and we only broke up because I moved back to USA... contacting him would have been a bit awkward.
