Black Deck Book

Postby Jon » Feb 16th, '05, 18:57

The Effect : Lots of effects for the black deck in one book. Oh yeah and serious load of advertising from ellusionist.

Cost : $24.95

Difficulty : 3
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review :
Ths first thing that I noticed when I got this book is the fact its small, the smallest magic book I have and the most expensive. This wouldn't be too bad if the contents was good. These are the different chapters of the boook:
Chapter 1. The Black Deck and Your Audience - fine but nothing to good and you probably know or could make up most this section anyway.
2. Black Deck Care... - Nothing you cant find on here and the Using a Card Clip suprise suprise trying to sell you the card clip they sell and then the zombie card part of a routine you have to buy and few other things.
3. Tricks - I read through these (well i think i did but might have got bored) and to be honest am going to perform that doesnt say along because i wont do a lot of tricks. Note these are only outlines of tricks no instructions on sleights included.
4. Bonus Tricks - Makes it sound like youve got your money worth already which you most certainly havent. The following routine and tricks supriseingly require you buy a book guess where from ELLUISIONIST.
5.Colour Changes - 2 Sleights which have nothing to do with the rest of the book.
6.Deck Switches - The first of which yes you guessed it requires you to buy a Deck Shell
7. Black Tiger Deck- A short paragraph on each card in the black gaff deck you could've of guessed anyway oh and a few more selling bits.

DO NOT BUY THIS, Unless you want to buy the new Ellusionist Black Deck Advertising book.

Overall: 0.5/10

If you look at some of the threads on Black Tigers you will read a number of comments and thoughts on the 'gaffed' versions of these decks. Most appear to disfavour these.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Blimey - $25 for a catalogue!

Why do they bother...
