As you are 12 and fairly new to magic (judging from your introduction), I'd say that was terrible advice, for now. When you are 12, your perception of who you are, and what you want to be, is very likely to change.
Don't worry about making money with it (it can happen, just don't push at it), don't worry about how you can create new tricks and don't worry about putting your own twist on things (yet). I say, just have fun with magic and learning (and performing) some tricks.
If you'd like to develop your performance style, what might be appropriate for a relatively new magician is to look at how you present tricks and whether your style changes depending on where you learned the trick. To take an extreme example, it would be very strange if you did one trick like Max Maven and the next like Jeff McBride, with a Bill Malone routine in the middle.
Which style of trick that you perform (type of trick and the patter/presentation) feels most like you? Try to work your other tricks into that style and if you cannot do this, there are many other tricks out there - drop the one that doesn't suit you and pick another that does. Later, you may be experienced enough to work with the one you couldn't make fit at first.
Stuff like acting classes and theory books on trick design and presentation can come later. Just enjoy doing magic for now. If you choose tricks that suit you (not just because they are cool), you might enjoy the process even more.
