Utility magic

is there any good magic items where its no a trick but a gimmick or principal where I can do several different looking tricks.
im looking for something that can be used with close up magic with everyday random objects or maybe a book that describes impromptu magic with every day objects or a dvd.

A tt is probably one of the most versatile props available.

A tt was my first thought too.

Have you considered coins? They're the ultimate everyday object with maximum versatility, although current UK coins aren't the best to work with. I suggest you get yourself a copy of Bobo's Modern Coin Magic - the cheap Dover edition will be fine.

Self-Working Table Magic by Karl Fulves is also very good (as are all his books).

Fulves Self Working Table magic is a good suggestion (as are all Fulves' books to be honest).

As anyone tried Jay Sankey's best magic with ordinary objects or Jay Sankey's best street magic. I saw them on my nearest magic shop's website. The tricks in the demo videos look like the kind of tricks I would like to use.

Really? They dissapear, re-appear, and sometimes get a bit larger. That's every single coin act in a nutshell.

That's a bit harsh! They can also change into other objects and penetrate boxes, cloths, hands, solid glass or cards. They can also be penetrated by solid objects. One of my favourite quickies is to show an ordinary coin as double-headed.

And one of the most useful things a real magician would be able to do would be to produce money from nowhere.

Off the top of my head, coins can also be used in transpositions, they can be bent by seemingly supernatural means, their dates (or the sum of various borrowed coins) can be predicted or divined, and they can be located (e.g which hand effects). In fact, coin routines can encompass pretty much all of the effects possible with cards (or indeed anything)...

Sorry for the rant, I just felt the need to help defend my favourite type of magic

Keep in mind Jay has been at this a very long time. My suggestion,if you like what you see then give it a try. Just don't expect to have results like Sankey off the bat. You got to put in a few years first.
