Ultimate Levitation

Postby Floater » Mar 11th, '05, 14:02

I was in a magic shop recently and overheard a couple of people talking about a new levitation that was going to be made available soon, from what I heard it sounded realy good.

Theay said that it get you a whole foot off the ground and that it had been used by some famnous magicians for years (I missed who they said it was but I got the feeling they were talking about David Copperfeld) but now its inventor, a guy called Diotty (sp?) was going to release it for general sale.

Has anyone else heard about this and have any more details? When will it be out if it isn't already and are they doing any pre-release tests that could spawn a review?

Thanks

Actually there were a couple of people talking about an "ultimate levitation" method at the Ipswich Magical Society meeting on monday. To be honest I didn't pay much attention but they did seem quite excited, and they are both experienced professional performers.

I know they went to Blackpool so maybe there was some hype for it there?

You say the name was Diotty, but the name I heard branded about was Latto. Does that ring any bells? Next time I seem them I will ask.

Hmm, I was sure I heard Diotty but I could be mistaken. If you could find out some more from your freinds at Ipswich Magical Society that would be cool.

Thanks

Have you had a chance to talk to your buddies at the magical society yet? I don't want to seem pushy, but this seems to be so good that I am anxious for all the details I can get. Anyone.....

My tuppence, Floater, is that there are SO MANY levitation effects out there... although, most of them use similar principles.

Can you be a bit more specific on the type of levitation this is?

I am not a 'floatey' type myself, but I HAVE heard grapevine rumours—and the name De Otti seems to ring a bell (Diotti, De Otti?!@?!?!?!).

The same guy, I think, had a rather controversial effect some while ago which never made it to the mainstream, which combined several of Magic's best-loved tricks together, which was "La sega ed il coniglio", which as I understand, is Italian for 'The rabbit and the saw'. I think you can pretty much guess the rest.

I will certainly ask around a bit more for you, as the name De Otti has arisen before in conversation, and it would be interesting to hear more about him.

I don't know very many details but I got the feeling that it certainly wasn't anything like the Balducci and variants, but nor does it use wires or anything like that, I think it can be done surrounded too.

There are a few other options but I think tha this is a completely new principle (well, it has been used by a select few for a while but is new to the general magical wolrd).

It is good that the name has been heard of before though, if he is an established creator.

I was at a Duane Laflin lecture (awesome performer) last night and I caught up with the guys who I said were talking about this effect.

They did indeed meet a magician/inventor called Latto DeOtti at BlacKpool, in fact they were in the same hotel as him! Latto wasn't there to perform as such, but he was finalising the deals with his new effect (the "Ultimate Levitation") which consequently was still a little hush hush.

However, Latto performed this for them in the lounge one night after they had all got back from the convention, and I have to say judging by my friends reaction this was the most amazing levitation they had ever seen, and these guys don't tend to exaggerate. They couldn't say if it could be done totally surrounded but they did say the angles looked pretty good. There were certainly people at both sides and infront of him when he stretched out his hands (ala Balducci) and levitated off the floor by about a foot - for a good 10 seconds before gently floated back down to the gound.

His feet were slightly apart and there was no jacket held in front of him, he just seemed to float up into the air and hang there.

Of course without seeing it for myself, or at least seeing a video of it, it is difficult to know exactly how good it really was, but certainly from what I heard, and from the way it was described to me this is going to be really good. I suspect both of them will be buying it and so I should get to see it being performed at the club one night.

They reckon it will be out really soon too, but I have no idea as to what the cost is going to be, or who is going to stock it at the moment.

Incidently - I have moved this thread as I feel it os more suited in the review request room.

Blaine's , the King Rise and Baulducci's are all pretty much using a blind spot. If like it was stated in a prior thread, Being seen from all angles would be the mine that is filled with gold.

Could this possibly be the clear rod method...sorta like those skate-shoe that are on the market?

Keep us up on this one. I'd like to master all the methods

Word on the grapevine is that this one is nothing like any other levitation effect and will be very, very exclusive.

Sonny,

The clear rod method is fine, but it plays hell with the planet Uranus

from what ive been led to beleive... this method is soooo far in advance of the rod version or pretty much any other version going at the moment, although its just what ive heard so i may be wrong (doubtful i know )

This method sounds very intriguing and I'm very curious at the moment. I can't wait until more information or media on the "Ultimate Levitation"
