Oz is actually a creator, performer, demonstrator—all of that.

In fact, in contemporary terms, Oz shines. I've been following magic since before I can remember—way before the 'internet' brought it mainstream. And to me, Oz is a very fresh new talent whose career I've been following for about 3 years.

It's fine to namesdrop Ammar and the likes, but they are a past generation of great performers. Although their work still comes through, even they were once 'lesser giants' in the magic world—they all started somewhere.

And now, to Gary... there's an old adage which we all should have learned as kids:
Think before you speak
And your rude, attacking comments about people here not knowing 'sheep from goats' is a display of sheer ignorance. There are people here as members of this forum who have FORGOTTEN more than you KNOW about magic. Your righteous attitude and pompous outbreaks clearly define your arrogance towards the art.

For you to be making these statements as a generalisation on this forum you are treading on very thin ice. This board is not a social experiment where it's acceptible for members to rant and rave about their *opinions*. It's supposed to be a community.

Your *opinions* would possibly be well received, if you'd simply accept that you are NOT the single authority on magic here. We all like to be objective once in a while, but your statements are becoming nothing but unfounded pomposity, directed at anyone who draws breath.

You would gain a lot more respect from others if you took a back seat and tried LISTENING instead of sounding off. You'll even learn something, if you button your lip.

This forum is intended for magicians of all levels, of all ages and all disciplines.

If you don't like it, there's a simple solution. If you DO like it here, show a little respect.

You obviously have some knowledge of magic/magicians, so why not use them to help people rather than as ammunition to flame people?

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing...

It seems to me that you want a one-way mutual back-slapping society where everyone thinks the same way and congratulates one another on how clever they are for being so clever.

Seige, I find you to be a hypocrite - you've called me ignorant, then gone on to tell me that there are people here that have forgotten more than I will ever know. How do you know? From what I read here, some of you don't have enough knowledge to fit in a TT.

Then you decide to issue silly threats. What's all this about "thin ice"? Do you think this is a childrens' playground?

Maybe you should poke your heads out of the sand and look at what goes on in the world of magic. People are critical of one another, people have disagreements all the time. If a conjourer thinks something or someone is weak (in terms of magic) they very often say so.

What you have done here at Talkmagic, is basically to recreate the old man's village magic society where you can all praise one another and giggle at your own smarts. The majority philosophy of being a student of magic on this forum seems to be to go out and continually spend money.

Talk about ignorance, you have not given one second's thought as to whether or not my opinions might be correct - I very strongly suspect that you're scared of facing the truth about yourselves.

It's laughable to suggest that I have any arrogance toward the art of magic. My position has ALWAYS been that magic should be taught, passed on, shared and respected. All I have heard from board members is about your hypocritical code of ethics, secrecy and some of the most appaling rudeness toward new members. You talk about being ethical, yet constantly violate your own rules, you talk about being open, yet censor posts. You talk about respecting magic, yet give the same mindless replies to every enquiry that comes along.

How much advice on this forum has ever amounted to anything other than "Buy Royal Road, and XYZ DVD." or "I bought that, and it was brilliant - you should buy it too!"? How many times has advice been given out that reflects the hard work of recent magicians (other than Hugard & Braue)? Could it be that you're all so narrow that you don't bother to explore the possibilities outside of a couple of books, a large range of DVDs and countless commercial effects?

You dare to call me rude!?!? Why don't you take a look at the "Magic Wanted" and "Magic For Sale" forums, and see outrageous bad manners from your moderators and your cohorts of self-righteous teenaged lackeys.

The sooner some of you get your heads out of the magic catalogue and into Apocalypse, the sooner you'll become "students of magic", and not "purchasers of tricks".

Awww, bless! Well, perhaps calling me a hypocrite is a little strong, but seeing as we have board members ranging from career professionals all the way through to people you may term 'Idols', I fear my accusation of yours (and dare I say even my own) knowledge of the art of magic—in comparison to theirs—is VERY small.

Thin ice in reference to, and not in threat to, the fact that you are making many more enemies than friends both here and elsewhere. The 'thin ice' comment is less of a threat, more of a piece of advice.

Oh, yes! We certainly do have a 'poking our heads out of the sand' once in a while. In fact, many of us are members of societies or clubs, and mingle with a lot of the names behind the effects you know/learn/buy. And we disagree with each other, and we offer advice, and we criticise. However, we DON'T generally bring our bad mouthing against people we don't even know.

Not far off the truth. However, once you've been a valuable member of this board long enough, you'd realise that the inner sanctums of this forum contain a lot of advice, help and assistance from the board's members for ALL walks of life. Professional, mainstream magicians are even known to offer help here.
And yes, we HAVE created a magic society, and it's a lovely one, with much praise and many HAPPY members. But there's always SOMEONE who feels their nose pushed out ;D

We try really hard to give everyone a fair hearing here, and perhaps at times it seems there is contradiction in our methods. And as I said before, usually, people who don't like it here have given up by now
Basically, there are MANY happy people here who abide by the rules, and are rewarded with advice, knowledge, and respect. They are here because they want to be. Nobody is forcing you to read or post.

I really don't think you've studied this forum or been a member long enough to realise that a lot of the members here actually contribute their OWN material to the 'invite only' areas of this site. There is much more knowledge and wisdom here than you are making out. And it would seem, unfortunately, that you will never understand that.

Oh, dear boy! You're generalising again! For the sake of our broad range of members, you should really try and understand the nature of this forum before you make such comments.
Many of the senior members are inventors, creators and writers of the tricks which are being purchased. Through to our newer members who are simply exploring magic by the 'CUPS' syndrome—which is to keep experimenting with the entire Penguin Magic or Alakazam showcase until they find their own niche.

Your opinions, as I said, are as valuable as everyone elses. If only you'd air them with less pomposity, you may have made friends here—not enemies.

a) Seige's use of the word grovelled was spot on and has been confirmed by our colleagues over at MagicBunny. (We do read each other's forum postings you know! )
b) Seige is not an administrator, in fact there are no administrators at TM - a simple fact which, if you had bothered to check, you would have known. But, then again, why change the habit of a lifetime and let the truth get in the way of a good rant, eh Gary?
b) Seige did not lock the post - that's something he can't actually do at the moment. The moderators locked it.
c) If there's any dictionary searching to do, try the words, 'please', thank you' 'sorry', 'courteous', 'sociable'. You obviously have no knowledge of them.

Your future posts will, of course, continue to be deleted, no matter how many times you repeat them and, naturally, all this is being watched by, and shared with, the folks at Magic Bunny so perhaps you could spend some time figuring out where next to run and complain about us all, ready for when they decide to not tolerate you either - which may be sooner than you think.
