Brainwave variation

Postby FTHO » Jul 29th, '13, 19:54

Hi guys, I'm looking for a specific gaff which might not exist...
I am in the need of a deck which had the same end result as a brainwave deck, a card is reversed in the deck, and it has a different back design to the rest of the deck.
The reason I can't use a brainwave is because I want to use a red and blue deck, the odd card in the blue deck should always appear to have come from the red deck.
With brainwave the colour of the deck changes half of the time.

It is also important that I can remove the odd card and hand it to the spectator.
Is anyone aware of anything like this out there?

A brainwave deck which is always blue and always has an odd red card.

Thanks

Sam

Would it be practical for you to make yourself two brainwave decks so you have all the options and just bring in the appropriate deck?

unfortunately not, that would require 4 decks in total, as i would have to switch the normal deck to match the odd card.

There is a effect by Gary Jones on iCandy which uses a regular deck but has a Brainwave feel to it.

Unfortunately, I can't recall it's title. Sure someone can chime in.

Does the card need to be reversed?
For a named card is only red card in blue deck trick you could do a chicago opener

By far the easiest way to do this is a double back card and some simple sleight of hand.

the card doesn't need to be reversed. but it is important that the card odd can be handled by the spectator.
if I'm not mistaken chicago opener wouldn't allow that.
I imagine any regular deck versions of brainwave would have the same issue.

You make "custom R&S decks made to perfection"... and I've heard great things about your decks, so i guess it is safe for me to assume that if you don't know of any R&S methods then there aren't any...

The deck you describe - a blue Brainwave deck which always has a red odd card would be possible using a "Double Decker" deck. Handing the card out may be a problem though, I don't know if the thickness of the card would arouse suspicion.

Could you not just use the regular Brainwave deck and use some sort of force for the colour of the card ?

Is this what you are looking for?

You can get matching decks and Christian (Card Shark) is very helpful, should you have any questions. I haven't used this particular product of his, but it seems to fit the bill and you can get a deck that is "always" red or one that is "always" blue. It's not Bicycle back, but I hope that won't be a problem.
