What is with the whole <Click here to visit> thang? How come the actual web addresses don't come up anymore?

The reasons are to do with security and stopping the specific websites being targetted by spiders.

I know it is not popular, but it is something under discussion at the moment.

To be exact, a URL can be harvested by programs. To stop them doing this, the URLs are just changed into the <Click here to visit>. It doesn't harm the links any...[/b]

True, but is still a pain not to be able to see where/what the link is. I could for example easily post a link to an undesirable site and the clicker wouldnt be any the wiser until they got there.
