Folded card - what to do with it ????

Postby moonbeam » Sep 13th, '13, 19:13

I've only just decided to learn the Mercury Fold, 'cos the first time round I tried, it just didn't happen .... anyway, this time, it just happened .... easy when it just happens .....

Anyway, so now I've got a folded card - what the hell do I do with it ??

I don't have any props etc, to hide it in (apart from my wallet), so that's out of the question, so apart from sticking it in my mouth (Innuendo anyone ??) or dropping it in someone's drink, what am I meant to do with it ??

Any advice plzz peeps :)

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

In your shoe, wallet, mouth, sealed envelope, in the back of your phone (cell). Paper clip ( jay sankeys paper clipped)

There are numerous options available to you.

All the best

Everything Deano said ^

BUT I highly advice against your own idea of "in someone's drink." No one likes ink in their diet.

Sankeys Paperclipped is a great effect - There is also an effect in 100% Sankey where the folded card appears behind your watch - Again a really strong effect if you can pull it off.

Have a look at "Mercury's Card" in Expert Card Technique.

Also see 'The Joker Folds Up' in Card College (Vol. V). Basic effect is that a signed (by spec.) Joker vanishes, only to be found (folded up!) in a box that is isolated from the very beginning (under a glass). Does require the purchase of a non-gaffed ring box (ideally without a hinged lid). i get mine from http://www.internationalcraft.com/acata ... jbUAH8_dKY (£6 for 10).

Just a curious question, why did you bother to learn the move if you don't have any use for it?

.... that's a fair point.

I got an email about "the clarity box" that's just been released (folded card inside a clear box). I remember thinking something along the lines of "Hmmm ...... I tried learning the Mercury Fold a while ago and couldn't get it" ..... anyway I just grabbed a deck of cards and tried again ..... everything just clicked .... I don't know why lol :)

Remember that you don't have to load the card in real time. A duplicate folded card and a shuttle pass will allow you to find the signed selection anywhere you can think of to hide the dupe beforehand.

Ah, thats interesting. I am looking at the clarity box myself. I see how the trick is done but the mechanics of the box are what worry me. I am a cynical sort of guy and to me "If it seems to good to be true it probably is too good to be true" is a guiding principle to any purchase I make. I would like to see a good TM review of this item . The price level is just above the point i would take a gamble with but very reasonable if the item does work as well as the video suggests!

Why not back in the card box from which it came? However this points to the main reason I suggest learning routines and effects rather than moves. The move is without value if you have nowhere to go with it, when you could be spending your time much more productivley like writting on message boards, err never mind. 8)

I use the fold on a at every one of my shows.

I use it different effects most popular being Cell, Paper clipped, Mystery Box, Card to envelope (Folded on occasion)

It is one of the best moves I ever spent time learning.

This weeks Wizard product Review featured the clarity box, and gave it worker of the week - also giving very fair negatives on it I thought (and of course just the odd mention of FOB - which I can forgive!)

Shove it under the spectators watch!

Another vote for some of the effects from Paperclipped, a very versatile move.

Chris Congreaves "The Light" lets you have a zippo style lighter in sight the whole time and then they get to see you pull a signed folded card from the lighter at the end. It's good end to an ambitious card routine.
