Levitating polo

Postby imagination_4_3 » Mar 29th, '05, 14:18

Saw this trick being performed on faking shortly i believe. making a polo levitate up to his mouth then eating it from mid air. If im even allowed to ask this question, does this work on the same principle as using ITR?

It was done with black art. there was a guy dressed in black, who couldn't be seen because of the black background, who was just lifting the polo to the magicians mouth...

Smoke and mirrors...

Anyone familiar with the 'Pepper's Ghost' illusion will know EXACTLY how it's done. There is a Polo on a string in a well-lit room, perpendicular to a 45° sheet of glass in front of the spectator.

Easy, really.

(The smoke part is used to confuse the scene of the polo, which in turn hides the string)

OHhhhh so thats it. so no just throwing it up in the air and catching it in the mouth then lol i found it very impressive when performed on the tv . he appeared to be just standing in a normal place no black backgrounds.. must of been the mirror one then seeing as it was on tv theyd get away with it easier i supose.

The secret of this OPTICAL ILLUSION is not that the polo floats up to the magician''s mouth, but the magician's mouth is lowered to the level of the polo.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Aw c'mon guys, we all know it's not difficult to levitate a Polo - you just drive it to KwikFit, ask them to check the exhaust, they put it on the ramp and whooooosh up she goes.

Levitating Polo?

Rubbish. I've never seen a Polo do a false shuffle or cut-and-restored rope, let alone perform a levitation.

What did it levitate, anyway...

Polo's are much better at disapearing. They are in my car anyway :? If I get some out and offer them round, the bloody packets empty when I get it back  I keep asking the kids where they've gone, but they don't know :?

actually it is done by the fact there is a hole in the middle of the polo and this hole or Space cases a short lived gap in the space time continum. now this causes the polo to stay still as the earth spins meaning that if the magition is in the right place the polo ends up in his mouth. if he does not practise before hand the consiquences can be most serious.

this is also the reason that they freshen your breath as all the smell and bacteria are taken out of your mouth by the break down of the space time continum gap thingy!

space time continum sounds like i have been watching too much star trek!

Pcwizme,

Good explanation, but God help the magician (male or female ) who bends down at the innapropriate moment in the time continum gap or it could be damn painfull

Said in a strange voice, "Now how the hell am I going to get that hole out of the hole"
