The Effect
"See, I have four blue-backed cards here. Imagine I have another four red-backed cards, all queens, on my left hand; I picked two colours, two reds or two blacks. Which colours do you think I've taken away? Two blacks? Ok, let's throw them away. Now I have two remaining cards -- queen of hearts or queen of diamonds. I've taken away one -- diamonds? Ok, let's throw the queen of hearts away. Now, I'll turn over this queen of diamonds and insert it to this packet -- "

The magi reveals the four cards; only the queen of diamonds is face-up!

"You see, this wasn't just a game of imagination. It's a materialisation of a thought, and because of that, only this queen is red-back."

I love it. Using only four cards, you can slip them into your wallet and perform it anytime, anywhere you're asked to do a trick. This is one of the effects where you can concentrate on presentation; in fact, the way you perform it can thoroughly alternate the mood of the effect.

Yes, this IS a magician's choice. This is a principle that every kid knew when I was about 12 years old. This principle can be used quite subtly to good advantage - but not in this example, IMHO.

A bit over stated and even if true, most adults don't seem to have remembered the magician's choice.

Totally agree that it's not hard to do but when presented well, it's damn hard for the specs to spot

Sorry, just to clarify - B'wave is not 100% equivoque - but that is the aspect I meant that everyone seemed to know when I was a kid. (Along with things like the 21 card trick).

Although B'wave is only 50% equivoque, I think the spec who knows equivoque will assume it all is.
