Recently I have received a E-mail from redfoot34526@yahoo.com. I didn't respond as it is clearly a scam! If not a scam then at something not to trust.

the E-mail is below:

Hi,
I'm Thomas Denzel, I'm a producer and currently looking to find upcoming amateur and professional magicians and mentalists to take part in a exciting new TV project.
I work for Trident United Productions and the programme will feature a select few of applicants to show off their talents to the public. If you are interested in taking part then you will need to E-mail me your details along with your card details. This is because a small deposit of £250.00 is required and is for travel and catering expenses if you are chosen. All unsuccessful applicants will receive a full refund within 30 days of the final deadline 25th November 2013. Filming will start in London on the 10th January 2014. The final finished programme will consist of 8 episodes airing on SKY 1 sometime in the summer.

I e-mailed SKY and they replied back a few days later saying that they have no connections with this man or company, they have no knowledge of any magic themed programme of this type and should not respond to the email in any way.

SO BEWARE!

Thanks for the heads up and it's really quite sad to think that some people would be so gullible to fall for scams like this.
I mean come on, who would give their card details to some random person who's just emailed you and you really don't have any idea who they are ??

Sadly like the 'Nigerian' Scams, people do fall for it!. Remember the old saying, 'if it seems to good to be true' it probably is!

Sounds obviously a scam - people pay me to do magic, not the other way round.
I wouldn't hold out hope for a refund from something like that!

Presumably you've passed details on to Trading Standards and perhaps one of the TV programmes such as Fake Britain who would be glad to check into this and sort the miscreants out.

When SKY replied to me they asked me to forward the email to them and that they're going to look into it and pass it on to the relevant persons.

You'll be glad to hear I didn't reply with any details.
I'm not that daft, but like others have said there are people out there that will sadly be gullible enough to reply.

It's doubtful anything will come of any investigation, it will be some anonymous computer whizz in Nigeria with a laptop no one can ever locate or trace.
