Hi,

Thought I'd get around to posting an introduction - I'm afraid this is a bit long winded

Me: UK - London 28 : EN

Anyway, I've been playing around with some magic for about a year (more off than on), mainly interested in coin and money magic, as I think it's something that people can relate to well.

I started learning a few coin sleights, and have got to the stage where I'm able to do some of them passably on a good day (classic palm, tenkai, some retention vanishes, and variations on the french drop), although I haven't really strung much into a useful routine yet, and I'm nervous about performing anyway.

I tend to spend most of the day with coins palmed while at my desk typing, which I hope will help me to get it looking more natural, fortunately my colleagues don't seem to mind the clatter of coins every now and then when I forget they're there, and they fall out :) Sometimes I find myself going to shake hands or wave, while palming a stack of coins, and have to go for a hasty ditch in the pocket.

I've recently met some excellent sleight of hand magicians who have been able to give me some useful advice, and show me what the magic should really look like, which has helped me no end, and spurred me on to learn more

Probably what I most need to do now is start putting together some magic routines, or learn some existing ones so I can more easily use the sleights in context. Also I probably need to learn a bit about other types of magic - After all, surely nobody can be considered a magician without knowing anything about cards ;) just kidding...

I'm also particularly interested in learning more about rubber bands - a guy did a version of CMH the other day that absolutely blew me away. - not the handling I have seen before, and I have absolutely no idea how he did it.

damn, just dropped another coin

Anyway, thanks for reading, and also for the excellent forum and reviews

Steve

Wow, you're prolific :P I didn't even write an intro.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool cardician, so I'm sure we'll get along nicely. I'm still working on my retention vanish...

Anyway, enjoy yourself here at TalkMagic - I do!

Hi,

Thanks ladies and gentlemen

Yes, I'm a big fan of Sankey's coin stuff - I really like the way he thinks - and the dynamic nature of what he does.

Personally, I have trouble with some of the Tenkai stuff he does, in terms of the angles. Maybe a bit of magical gesturing might cover the hand turning over (the twisting turnover thing looks wrong when i do it)

I'm convinced that this hold could be used for a really good "rubbing the invisibility off the invisible coin" production if I could just get the handling smooth enough

cheers,
steve

tenkies one of the hardest slieghts to master, not the execusion but rather the astetics of the move.
its best used for a rubaway vanish were it starts at the fingers and is rubed away by the other hand, revearse for the production or do the sankey hand over hand reaperance.

the best advantage of the tenkie vanish is that you can show your hands palm up and facing down or up in the classic surrender formation thats total disarming.
the sankey drop is also great for coin loading prior to a coins across routine.
