Hello

Ive been posting on here for a while without introducing myself and i thought it was about time i did.

So, hi, im Tom. Im 21 and a Psychologist from UK. Ive always been into psychology and in particular the psychology of suggestion, deception, change-blindness etc. I have been interested in magic since a child but i never persued it. The whole 'making sponge balls appear/disappear' never did it for me, same with anything using a wand, a hat or rabbits (excuse the ignorance). I hope im not offending and professional magicians, but that type of magic never really interested me much.

A while back i saw some footage of a guy called andy nyman and it started me thinking that i could try and use what i know about the way the mind works to this thing called 'mentalism' that i stumbled across. I read works of corinda, anneman, rowlands and have become a bit obsessed with it all.

Now nyman works with derren brown and im now seen as a bit of a derren brown wannabe yet my interest in mind magic started before DB became a household name. Unfortunately there's not much i can do to shake the accusation but i hope some original effects will, one day, do that for me.

Ive joined the forum as i want to do a bit of work with cards and at the moment my card handling skills are, well, fairly non-existant.

Most of my posts will be card orientated yet if anyone has any psychology/mentalism questions, ill do my best to answer them.

Best wishes,

Tom

Ooh, hello! I'm an ambitious cardy too (hee hee).

Enjoy yourself here...:P

If you need a good starter DVD, try Oz's Born to Perform (http://www.penguinmagic.com/europe/product.php?ID=618) - I'm recommending it to everyone, as it's an excellent DVD...

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Easy to master card miracles by Michael Ammar. Several VHS/DVD in his range. Great stuff if you are learning.
