Riffle Pass

Postby Ludders » May 5th, '05, 19:41

I am just starting to learn the riffle pass and I am having great difficulty. If I do it slow it is really obvious what I'm doing but the cards get caught when I do it fast! Any hints/tips?

Thanks,
Ludders

Pretty much what I do is hold a firm grip with the left 2,3,4 fingers.

Doing a little editing here... Misdirection helps on this one. Because they're looking at the card you cut to. Also turning to the right a bit helps with the move.

the reason the packets are catching is simply because you havent practiced enough.. this sort of move takes a long time to get right. You said it yourself you just started learning it so be patient. Get it right slowly first then try to speed it up a little as your fingers become more accustomed to the movements

You can do it very slow, and make it look awesome though.

One more thing, I seem to be doing the pass much more smoothly but when I practice in the mirror, I notice that the pass is really easy to spot. If I was performing and I did the riffle pass, the spectator would probably see how I did it. It can't all be misdirection because I have seen videos that show guys doing it slow and I still can't see them do it! Any hints on how to hide it? eg. hand positions or any videos that would help?

Thanks again,
Ludders

Thanks loads for your help. I have got the hang of it now! I need to practice to make sure I can do it perfect every time. I fooled my Dad yesterday, even with the card face up with no misdirection. I can trick myself in the mirror too. Now I have to pluck up the courage to perform to all my friends :? It will be good to see their faces though :D

Thanks again,
Ludders

this may get a bit of a pain though

I have caught myself just doing springs with me cards, though my springs aren't very big (10cms)
