Can anyone give me some tips on making a nice big fan? I can't seem to get it big for some reason, I keep trying but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Hey! For a really nice fan, the best thing to do is experiment with the "pivot point" of your thumb and fingers. Practice is the key to making fans! You can read books and watch videos all day, but unless you practice, you'll never get good at it! If you're having trouble with making the fan "even", you could try applying fanning powder to the cards while you practice, but it's very important to learn to do it with a normal deck of cards. Also, make sure your deck is in pretty good shape. You can't make a fan with ANCIENT cards. :D
I hope what I've said helped you in some way!

PS just so everyone knows, I haven't been posting much lately due to exams at my school... LOTS OF STUDYING!!!

Is it a Pressure Fan your trying to make or a Thumb fan?
I find the the thumb fan alot easier to do and with a bit of PRACTICE (why does that word always pop up) you can get a decent size fan going.

Pressure fans though are more of a knack and I am still yet to do a perfect one but i'll keep practicing until i do. Try out little variations to how you do it each time ie push the deck forward a bit then put your thumb in a different place etc. this will help you find the placing don't always follow the books to the T (thats if you trying it from a book.

When I posted, I just assumed that you were talking about a thumb fan... if it's the pressure fan you're talking about, though I still haven't quite grasped that one yet... It REALLY helps to buy a video to teach the pressure fan and you can really see the way that the fan works.

You also might want to try fanning powder. Also if you are not doing so already, use bikes! It makes life easier !

make a habit out of keeping your hands real clean...fresh hands make the best fanz is my motto!everyone knows it takes no time to make a brand new deck look shabby otherwise(eh lads?)p.s.- try a pressure fan with just your thumb.
