This has been discussed a lot. Try searching "Roughing AND Spray"

Roughening spray is tried and tested, readily available and not expensive so why risk using something else to save a few pence?

you make a good point dat8962, but what about them folks who arent located close by from a magic store or if you dont feel like ordering online. if im able to find a good alternative then chances are i can probably turn the corner and visit my local supermart for it..

Roughing Spray alternatives

Postby Allen Tipton » Jun 6th, '05, 12:24

:) There are at least 2 alternatives. No' 1 has been around since i was a small lad!!! It's obtainable from most chemists. Melrose. it was for chapped hands etc. I have used it on one particular set of cards and only renewed it once in 20 years. It was originally put out in circular tablet form (like Snowfire) but it is now in a tube as a push up stick. It's stickier, at first, than roughing fluids but it does work. Geoffrey Buckingham(Manipulator supreme) recommended it once in Abra for a t & R card. It's cheap..about £1:50. The other is Restickable Glue. Mine is Scotch Brand & came from W.H.Smiths. Anthony Owen first brought this to magicians attention & called it (I think) blue glue. Mine is transparent.
