Sorry. I never repeat anything i do...

"I know how you did that?"

So do I. It's clever isn't it [and then either walk away or move on to another effect]

"Can I see that?"

No! It explodes in the hands of non-magicians and my liability insurance has just expired so I'm sorry, it would be wayyyyy too expensive for me!!

"Can You Do That Again?"

You know, being a magician is much harder work than people realise and some tricks really drain you of energy and I'm sorry this is one of those tricks and as such I only perform it once a day!!

"I know how you did that?"

Go on then - show me!!! **9 times out of 10 they fumble and fluff it, you obviously cant allow them with some gimmicks though unless they are specifically examinable**

Personally I'd be a bit carefull with that one. If anyone used that line with me then I'd deck them!

You need a line that is a light put me down but is not offensive.

I'd never take the p**s out of any blokes wife or girlfriend as most will take this as being far too personal and an insult.

My stuff is more psychological, and I'm beginning to work demonstrations of the spec's "abilities" into the proceedings. "Can You Do That Again?" becomes "Can I Do That Again?" and "I know how you did that?" becomes "How did I do that?"

When I do something with props, the props are always clean. It's the only way for me.

Never put anyone down, it always gives magicians a bad name.

If I'm asked if I can repeat an effect I say that I'm just going to do something different for the other spectators because I don't want to be boring and after I've done a few more tricks they've forgotten that they wanted me to repeat one.

Half of my effects are repeatable anyway and sometimes I'll chase someone up later and say, Here is that one you wanted me to do again.

This is what I say...

Can you show me that again?

How about I show you something else.
If it's a trick where my sleights are so fast, and clean not even Jesus can catch them I say
Sure, but wouldn't you want to see something else?

I can do that

I really can't stand some peoples arrogance so I say
Alright, here's my deck, figure it out, I'll give you a hundred bucks. I play arrogance back

How do you guys respond to "How did you do that?"

I say: "Very well, thank-you."
