Does anyone know the name and originator of the trick Penn and Teller did on The One Show last night? It is the last item on the show if you are looking at i player

Can you describe the piece ? I can't watch videos at the moment.

The majority of Pen and Tellers material tends to be either their own or their personal spin on a classic plot.

I am with Jim. Post a link to the trick or describe it. We won't go searching.

The clip with the trick starts at 24 minutes

The trick is that two new decks are shuffled one by the spectator one by Teller. The spec then cuts to a point, Teller cuts to a point and they have both reached exactly the same card. This is repeated in various ways several times

I did some research and, based on this thread http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view ... forum=2&23 , I think it might be George Engel's "Do As I Do", from Hugard's Magic Monthly, May 1949 (or a close relative of it).

I was able to work out how it was done, based on my understanding of the basic DAID effect, but of course you want to get it "legit"!

It doesn't play in Ireland, but thanks for posting it at least.

Yes, I am only interested in getting it properly. I am keen to find out if I can buy it.

The Wayne Fox "Knockout Prediction Outdone" is a similar effect. Might be worth looking at that? Completely different method, but a similar effect for the spectator.

I *think* Hugard's Magic Monthly is searchable and available on Ask Alexander? If you had a subscription to that you could get hold of the article Part-Timer referred to. And that would be "legit".

The Wayne Fox version might not be the way Penn and Teller do it but it looks good enough for me. Thanks for the help.
