Hi, I am looking for the first spiral bound edition of Pure Effect By Derren Brown. I have looked on ebay but its not available for some time now. Is there any marketplace for mentalism books that deals in old collectible books other then ebay?

Basically, you can't get the spiral bound edition. Very few were produced. The second edition sells for about £60, unsigned.

The odd edition does come up every now and then but it sells for a fortune and they are very few and far between!

Also beware of counterfeit copies, we heard of several of these offered for sale yonks ago and, indirectly, that lead to the ban of printed material being traded here on TM.

Is there any way to find out if its a fake copy or not?

The fakes we were aware of were very poor photocopies but the buyers only found out after they'd paid and the book arrived. After that the sellers went out of contact very quickly.

Freddie has a 3rd edition for sale. £120 ono. If your after the information , its all there. If your just after the book as a thing to own.. Good luck.

Not all the info is in the third edition, compared to the first.

Reminiscence isn't in the later editions.

Nor is lift, I believe.
