Hey folks,
I'm not sure if this is an appropriate post but hey, it's Misc here.
I just wanted to thank you all for being so great, my magic heroes really reside just here. This forum so far has been my main inspiration to really kick some magic ass and I'm on a bit of a high from last night. I went down to our local pub for halloween, dressed suitably horifically and with a hooded top not dissimilar to a kind of dynamo look which I think helped curiously haha. Anyway, I took lots of advice from various threads on here esentially sayng get out and do as much as you can when you can for free, so I tooled up and went on my first real proper magic mission.
I learned a special halloween trick, the haunted deck where you wave your hand over the deck and the spec's chosen card appears to slide its self from the deck with nothing but you waving your hand over the top, and wow it slayed them totally

I did a few other very basic run of the mill 'no set up required' tricks and had a couple of other prep'ed decks in my pocket but never got a chance to use them, it was more quick fire but I managed to pull it off and it was the first time I felt truely comfortabe and not nervous at all, totally confident and ready for anything right off the cuff so to speak. So mainly I just wanted to say you're all my heroes, especially whoever started this forum, as it's helped give me the confidence to throw myself out there instead of sitting in practicing and not daring to see how good I am so far in the real world.
I got caught out only once with the old 'your card is the only one face up' when someone tried to turn their card round and put it face up in the deck before telling me they knew what I'd done. But it was at the end of the night and I still felt I'd done some killer tricks and indeed had a few folk who were obviously in the mood with whom I could have pulled off some shockingly bold moves and they were so magiced up by that point the'd have not noticed anything if you catch my drift. Amazing how some people can be so tough, and others just so willing to be fooled (I fall into the latter category I have to say haha).
Anyway, thanks folks, I just had to mouth off about how well it went and how inspiring it was. I also discovered it's a lot easier personally to perform to people you don't know so well or see so often, not sure if that's the same for most folk? It was a fab experience and I feel I ought to have some good advice to hand on from it, but I can't think what that is just now, apart from I wish I'd had a good one liner or something for when I was rumbled at the end, I can see how invaluable they are! It was also the first time I didn't really care about being rumbled either as everyone was having such a good time, me included, instead of being just nervous.
Awesome.
