Festive Fireballs!

Postby artychris » Dec 1st, '14, 18:20

I have a hand full of Christmas do's that I'm magic-ing at, and am going to be using Fireballs from the Automata DVD.

As much as I love the shallot ending, I'd like to find something a little more seasonal... So I've spent the day wandering around central London looking for something appropriate that would fit in to the official fireballs cups... And so far have found nothing. Each and every Santa is just to big to fit in the cups! (Not counting some small chocolate ones, and I'm going to use those on Christmas day with the family)

I'm looking for something glittery, Christmasy, and a bit tacky...

So... Anyone else here doing anything similar? Can you recommend anything? If so, what shop? And how much???

Thanks in advance :)

Mini bauble? We've got some red ones about the size of a cherry tomato

Have you considered cake toppers? I'm not sure how much wear and tear they'd survive, but probably a bit more than chocolate:

Looking at the shape of the cups, I'd have thought that a model Christmas tree would be ideal (you could add some extra glitter), but the ones I found all seemed a bit big. I looked for model railway ones and cake toppers, but I didn't spend too long, so you might find something suitable. I'd add a weighted bse/plant pot, to add stability.

Do you know anyone who's really good at modelling with Fimo or other polymer clay? They might be able to make you a nice Santa that is the perfect size. Father Christmas should be quite easy to make, although the size might make things a bit fiddly.

Cake toppers are an excellent suggestion, thank you!

Having lit the paper balls, "Dunno about you folks but doing this sort of thing just sends me nuts!" Lift third cup to reveal a hazelnut/peanut in shell or other small nut which fits.

Perhaps we could keep going on alternative endings and reveals, festive or otherwise? First prize for the best suggestion is some second hand flash paper......

How many times has the flash paper been used?

Twice in rehearsals and once in performance - honest, Guv...

Another possibility: "Dunno about you folks but I'm having a ball"... Lift cup to reveal small rubber ball as used in Party Favours bags etc. or those little foil wrapped chocolate footballs.

Must be something we can think of which uses a Malteeser!

My arts and crafts for my final reveal isn't going to plan!

I found this great fluffy snow ball thing that I've glued a Christmas pudding pencil topper on to and it looks great (in a strange and cheesy way!)

But the fluffy thing just won't stay in the cup... There's bits of fluff poking out all over the place! Imagine trying to wedge an octopss in to a tea cup! :)

I'm tempted to ask if you could trim your fluffy bits down a bit but it sounds wrong on so many levels  !
