New sections are always worthy of consideration, we've only had one member before who specialised in Children's Entertainment so we might need a few more visitors to ensure the section was well used. Consider it on the agenda!

in thease days one children's entertainer is rare but two is a mirical. :D

most people just pm me if they have any questions regarding parties but a seperate section sounds cool, what age range do you work with. :?:

With my holiday park background (Havenmate of the Year in 2002, don't you know!), I'm often asked to go to friends' kids' parties and play a few games and entertain them "like you used to at Haven."

In a couple weeks I'm looking to meet up with nippy99 (from another unnamed forum  - may I be struck down by lightning for visiting there :!: ) to stick some kind of magic routine together for a five-year-olds party.

A new section on talkmagic would be brilliant - maybe magicdiscoman could act as consultant?

I have 29yrs experience (On and off) of entertaining Children/comedy Magic,I am sure I could be of some help, also been a D.J. for just as long,I just love entertaining people, and seeing them have a great time, and for me,the sound of a group of kids laughing is pure Magic..

This all sounds very promising! At the moment, creation of a new area is something which can only be done by the forum owner and he's away off on his merry travels so please bear with us until we can get in touch with him.

I always avoid taking bookings for childrens parties etc. as I don't really do stuff at the moment that I think would appeal to children, particularly the under 10's.

Personally, I'd be very interested in a section for Children's entertainers for this reason.

I am interested in all aspects of Magic, but specialise in Childrens Magic, despite being interested in Magic for over 20yrs,I by no means consider myself a expert, there is ALWAYS something to learn, only yesterday,I watched the DVD "Funny Business" by Patrick Page, and got so much out of it,no tricks revealed etc, just bits of business/gags for the
childrens entertainer.
I would like to branch out into "Table hopping",so maybe if this new section takes off,we can all help each other out, after all, isn't that Magic is all about?,there is,and can be,alot of jealousy and snobbery in Magic, how can newcomers progress,if we don't share?

Hi Chubby

I do table hopping and it's thorugh this that I get my leads for Children's parties. I'd like to stop having to turn them down.

Recently came out of a bad marriage, where my ex threw away almost £3,000 worth of Magicprops/books.....
Now moved from London to Fleetwood,(Up North) to be with my new partner, and due to some shares that I had long forgotten about,I am now in the process of putting togethera top notch Childrens show,
Unfortunatly,I got a knock back from my local Magic club, hoping that I can re-apply,but at the end of the day, most looking forward to getting out there and performing again.....still waiting on alot of props, and still got some to order, then a month or so,putting it all together into a show, and advertising, then off i go again into the Mad,mad, world of Magic..........
I LOVE IT..... :D :P

In my opinion, this is a forum for magicians, not kids that wanna become magicians. Then, if there are kids here, that really are magicians, why do they need their own forum? They could use the existing ones...

I've never been into entertaining kids, as Derek Lever would say, I love kids but can't eat a full one

For many years I used to go to some wealthy friends for a Xmas party, always on Boxing Day. I used to do my usual close up magic, even one time put on a small display of stage mentalism.

But one year, they nattered me to do a kids show. I explained that it wasn't my style, but they insisted.

So, I went with a pocket full of balloons, lined all the kids up, put them into teams, made them hats and guns in coloured teams, and sent them off to fight everyone in a different colour. They wrecked the house  Don't know why I never got invited back 8)

as no emoticon use i could not tell if you were joking or had missed the point of the thread, we are after a section for children's entertainers not a section for kids.
childrens entertainers have to combone serveral spheres of magic and a sound bsais in psychology to progress far in this field and it is considered one of the hardest fields to be in due to its high stress levals and the creativity needed to keep it vibrant and thats why it deserves a section of its own.

ps slightly of subject but equaly relevant does anyone know were i can get kids action songs in russian thanxs.

I find that one of two attitudes surround childrens' entertainers in that they are regarded as the Spitfire pilots of the craft (you'd never get me out there with them :-) ) or considered to be clowns (which is such a skilled art makes magic look easy!) and have nothing to offer.

I'm in the first camp, I've started doing (well in four weeks I will have) Brownies and cubs, and the like, shows so would love to have a forum area where I could canvas opinion, learn from experience, etc.

There are many who would probably like to see chidren's work separated from 'real' magic in this vast world of our (i.e. outside this forum as well as in it) and this for me makes this an extremely valuable and useful option.
