I am opening a magic shop - magic inventors needed

Postby Mianon » Jul 2nd, '05, 12:41

hello

I have plans to open up a online magic store selling basic magic supplies like cards etc... and also selling tricks that are avaliable in downloads.

Kinda like what penguin magic and ellusionist do.

But i have a problem, when i get my site up and running i shall only have a few tricks to sell... so i am looking for people who have invented magic tricks and wish to sell them.

Anyone intrested send me a pm....

anyone with any questions about the site, reply here

Thanks

Ben

Any chance of a copy of your business plan Ben?

Also, and I know it'll be in the plan, but I thought I'd ask now, where is the shop going to be based physically?

i shall run the shop from house, any stock the shop sells will be at my house ready to be shipped out.

I'm wondering what your going to do that will cause people to choose to buy from you rather than the well established shops out there, and indeed to attract creators of any quality to choose to sell through you before you've had chance to prove yourself?

I ask as a creator, because when I'm ready to release some of our creations I know I'll be seeking to sell through the well known outlets and as a buyer I already have places I buy from and only 2 things get me to buy elsewhere and even then only sometimes. These two things are great products I can't buy from my regular suppliers and a much better price.

Hi Mainon

You need to be carefull running a mail order business from your home, or any business for that matter as this will probably effect your household insurance (or your parents), there may be clauses in the deeds of the property to forbid running a business from home (there are in mine) and you'll also need business insurance.

I assume that you're going to register the company as a limited company? These are some of the reasons why you need to have a business plan.

Well you're off to a good start with having supporting parents who know what they're doing

I wish you well.

Sorry to be a party pooper but, if you're going into supplying magic as a commercial enterprise, then this thread comes close to commercial advertising which isn't allowed on TM unless arranged via the forum owner at an appropriate fee. Can we just leave things at the stage where Ben will be happy if anyone can PM him with useful thoughts, suggestions and so on rather than lock the topic to avoid having an extended thread here?

Just a question, even if this thread is "partly illegal", will you be interested in selling routines as well?
