SPUN - Coin Levitation and Bend

Postby MagicBill » Jul 5th, '05, 13:01

Has anyone ordered this yet?

Check out the video demo:

A coin floats in mid air and then visually bends! Demo looks way cool. 8)

Any reviews coming up?

EDIT: I take that back. I just watched the video again, and I realized that you barely even see the coin - no chance am I getting that until some guinea pi-- ahem, kind friend () goes and buys it first, and makes a demo video of it that shows it plain, without all the fancy cuts and dark lighting.

Hmmm. Isn't it amazing how these things are always filmed at night or late evening, with minimal lighting, plenty of background distractions and seem to spend almost 3/4 of the demo on spec's faces plus other things not actually to do with the effect? I think I'll wait until I see a nice steady clear daytime shot where the camera doesn't wobble all over the place and cut away every few seconds! :?

looks cool but the "visually" bending looks more like wobble.... then a little trade.... :?

not wierd hawk...but a marketing technique...for one it adds to the overall feel of the whole effect...this effect is obviously meant for an older audience that wants the extremely visual stuff...that being said they are able to market the trick better and give it a better feel by shooting it at night and with odd camera angles...but they do this more as to cover up how its done...there are some of us who will watch the video several times and examine certain aspects to figure out how its done...by shooting it with various other factors involved they protect themselves from folks figuring out the secret...for instance anything with IT involved...just by watching a video your able to tell if an object is levitating in air due to IT...just examine the physics of the object thats floating and you will see that due to the physics its vbery obvious it is suspended by IT...

I bought liquid metal and it just didn't do it for me. I really don't like Morgan's style - but that's just my personal preference. There's really only one method to float the coin - but there's a number of ways of doing that, and that's what I'd love to see. When doing this kind of effect lighting is always crucial - but I agree, the demo video isn't that good. I downloaded the low bandwidth one and i could hardly see the coin levitating.
The effect is pretty easy to figure out except for one or two things I'm not too sure of - but that's not really the point. It seems like an original idea - and a good one. I think I may just get it because there may be a few things here that I could learn
