Is this a good read? I saw it in Waterstones earlier (next to books on Chess, and just above books on Sudoku) and the reviews printed on it from the broadsheets reckon it's brilliant.

The Rise of the Indian Rope Trick: The Biography of a Legend - Peter Lamont

I'm thinking of getting it for holiday as a lighthearted accompaniment for Ortiz's Strong Magic.

It's a fantastic book and finally dispels the myth. More accurately it should be known as the Indian Bamboo Pole Misunderstanding or the Chinese Strap Trick. There's a mention/sort of review of this about 18 months ago when I read it (book borowed from youngest son!)
