Starting at a restraunt

Postby It_Came_From_Space » Jul 7th, '05, 16:50

Hey Guys,

I am starting to work as a waitor soon for some weekend money and will in corperate my magic into the job as well. I am happy performing to random people around the town etc but feel realy rude approaching people in restraunts.

Any tips on how to approach people in these sort of places, how to introduce yourself and leave them etc.

Cheers

On a general note what price do people charge per hour for just magic?

Do the management know you will be doing this?

To be honest as a waiter, I think you will automatically be setting yourself up for a fall. The waiter's job is to be subtle and unobtrusive. By performing magic you will be breaking that barrier and probably get fired.

However, as a restaurant magician you can get away with being obtrusive and interupting people's meals because it's your job. That doesn't give you a license to be obnoxious though and to a certain extent you will have to be far more subtle than a waiter and know when enough is enough. And that's only a small part of being a succesful restaurant magician

Go to TGI Friday's some time and you'll see what magician waiters do! It's probably quite nice to go and work in TGI's as well! You have fun whilst working as well!

No, but a few are! Some just perform juggling for you and others will just annoy you lol.
