Favourite 10 minute card effects/routine, no gimmicks/gaffs

Hi

If you were given, or just brought your own deck of bikes (or whatever), which effects would you perform, given apprx 10minutes?

Usually, I would do something like this:

1. Produce 4 kings (infact I tell the spec to do the first cut, and cut to ANY card he want... a force cut to a king). Then I fancy 3 more cuts, to find the rest of the kings.

2. Now, having the 4 kings, I would do my non-gimmicked NFW, which of'course ends up with the 4 aces.... Of course, I base this on the patter I have in my video here on TM, with the 4 kings being the most jaleous cards in the deck, since they are so close to be an ace.

3. Having the 4 aces, I would do a classic "Twisting the Aces"

4. Then I put the 4 aces aside, and do a AC routine (ambitous). I will end this routine by talking about how tired I am of the card poping to the top, and really loose it, and show them that it's not on the top anymore (DL).

5. Then, the waving the aces. I will ask the spec what aces he prefer (let's say the reds), and then perform the normal waving the aces. And god! - It's there again! - The same signed card as in the AC routine.

6. Finally, to just really destroy the impossible AC card, I do the Card Warp. I let him bend his signed card, and I find "any" other card.

Ok, I know the last trick is a little out of the "no gimmickes/gaffs" topic, but, it's so simple and easy to control, so, I added it ;)

What ya think? What would you do?

hmm - I'd get them to choose a card - then I'd call out every card except theirs - getting the stack in BCS order. That would take at least 8 mins. If there are still any spectators left after that I'd do some effects using the BCS

Actually - watching anyone performing for over 2 mins with cards and I'm bored senseless.

1. To start, one of my own... I would ask the spectator to shuffle the deck thoroughly. I'd then launch into an equivoque-style effect whereby the spectator selects a card, and then finds their own card! (2 minutes)

2. The cards are shuffled again, and I roll out Sal Piacente's 'Cutting to Aces' routines. Outstanding (3 minutes)

3. Something a little quicker, once I have the Aces, would be Reed McClintock's "Twist" (2 minutes)

4. To finish off, I would get the speccy to shuffle the deck, and then perform the fantastic Lennart Green 'One-Two' colour separation to perform an 'Out of this World' variation (3 minutes)

Ackermans opener.. starts with an ID routine with a normal deck..then goes into triumph...then goes into a memorised deck routine..and finishes by culling every 4 of a kind in 2 faro shuffles

Generally, I start out doing some warm up tricks that everyone is familure with. I spend 3 minutes quickly doing ambitious card type tricks just to warm up the spectator. I do this, because I find it fun to slam them with my style of card magic. As, it is generally seen as unusual. To make the transition I do a flip force and "mentally" guess their card. Then I put the deck down, have them think of a different card, and tell them that card. Now, I have peoples attention. And, all the while I am pacing and leading the specific spectator (and hopefully bringing more into the excitement.) Then, I finish with my card trick I invented called 'The "Hypnotic Loop" Induction'.

This might run over 10 minutes though. As the last trick sometimes takes a few minutes to go through the whole routiene. If I need to keep it short, I will do a trick I came up with (though its not very original) where 2 people pick cards, and I convence the other that the other person picked the card they have. This trick creates a large amount of confusion when I pull it off correctly. So it is quite risky. Sometimes people walk away thinking it was just a regular trick. Othertimes they walk away not knowing what to think happened to them. Either way, it works out I guess.

Anyway, thats my short version.
