Impuzzibilities by Jim Steinmeyer - Review
Bought mine from Alakazam

Price : £11.99 + Shipping.

Difficulty : 1/5. Some of the effects are almost self working. Others need practise and patter, but are not beyond the abilities of me, so anyone can do them. They will be as good as your presentation.
They say :
Strangely Self-Working Conjuring
This 30-page booklet contains 13 self-working items including interactive tricks which are suitable for television or radio audiences. Contains:
The Nine Card Problem
The Full Deck Problem
Dimes & Pennies
A Quarter to Nine
The One O'clock Mystery
The Three Mystery
The King Mystery
Understanding the Bermuda Triangle
The "Ten Boys" Poker Deal
The Five Card Mix
Automatic Poker
Three Card Monte
Teleportation
Soft cover, staple bound, 30 pages.

I Say :

What you get is a small, but beautifully presented 30 page, soft cover booklet. I have the 2nd printing of 2005, the first being in 2002. There’s almost a 1930’s quaintness about the presentation, so this is not a cheaply printed item. There are 13 effects. Some can be done with a watch, others with cards or coins. Each section has example patter and the method. The text is well written and easy to follow. How unique the content is I don’t know, but there is nothing I’ve seen before.

The general feel is of Mentalism with a twist. With strong patter, you have some nice openers, and well as impromptu card effects, with a mental theme. I especially like The Nine Card Problem, for its simplicity but impact, The One O’clock Mystery is a great item you could do over the phone, and many have raved about the Teleportation card effect.

One minus point is that Dimes and Pennies, uses … Dimes, but I’m sure this could be easily worked around !

Overall :

All in all, this is a little nugget of a book. It’s not pages and pages long, but there will be 4 or 5 effects that each person will be really drawn to, and be able to use quickly and effectively, with a 100% strike rate.
Really the book is a secret I’d like to keep to myself, but it seems only fair to share it !
At almost 12 pounds it’s not cheap, but it has genuine value.

Rating : 9/10. Well, nothings perfect, is it ?

PS. Hope the review format is ok …

Nice review, Piers. I've been looking into this one - and I think you've convinced me.

Are you a fan of Jim Steinmeyers' other marketed effects? I am a HUGE fan of his World's Thinnest Deck and One Card Monte effects. I carry both with me practically every day.

Thanks.
I have to confess I'd not heard of Jim S., until I bought this book, but I would certainly buy more now. And I like his writing style too...
Piers.
