So, I'm of to Ampleforth next week, as a youth leader and i've got to give a reflection - Talking to kids about charity work - 11pm...Superheroes don't seek fame and fortune! Flash paper is involved - although you didn't really need to know where I'm going..(the first sentence)..ah well. I just got some Flash Paper, on Monday - and had some fun lighting it, today! It's the paper, not the pads...and i cut them it to quarters!!

Anyway...the questions!!
I know screwing it up, makes a bigger flash, and leaving it to dry / rather than wet - is that right?

Are there any other advice, for bigger flashes or safety??

How should i store it - it says, do not store in a residence?? But i can't really put it in the garage, as i have my car (filled with petrol) in there!! Is it safe in my house - in one of those plastic wallets you get for packet tricks - that's what it is in now!!

Also, How do Flash cotton, string, pads...etc compare? String looks quite good with the flame travelling along the string like, dynamite in cartoons!

Thanks for any help,
Ed.

Different brands seem to come with different storage guidlines, but I would say keep it in the slightly damp condition it arrived in (this may slightly degrade the performance of the paper ovre time so don't store it for too long) out of direct sunlight, probably in a metal cashbox if you have one. This way if it does accidentally ingnite (unlikely) it will not cause any damage and shouldn't matter where you store it.

It should work better wett than dry and the tighter it is rolled or screwed the faster it will burn. If it is practical then partly confining it will also make it burn faster, for example packing it into a small cup of some kind if this is appropriate to the trick.

Hi there,

I am thinking of performing a routine by Larry Becker - "Kollossal Killer III" he calls it. A spec takes an imaginary deck of cards and burns 51 leaving a card of their choice - the one in my wallet.

Anyway, at the part where Larry burns the imaginary cards - eg all of the Spades - he palms a scrunched up bit of flash paper and using a lighter sets it on fire - and moves his hand backwards as it burns.

I'd like to have a go at this, but have no idea what type of paper to use or in what conditons it would be safe to perform it in.

Any suggestions? - Thanks!!
