Injog, I'm just not getting it.

I've tried following TRRTCM diagrams, but I'm just not getting any better/more consistent. I know the book says if you think it doesn't work try again, but at the moment I would tend to forget this and use something else.

What do others think? Is therea better method or is pereverence the only answer ?
Thanks, Dave. :?:

What are you trying to do exactly? Injog a card!? A little more information would be helpful in this instance.

All the best,

In all fairness, the simplicity of a standard injog or outjog can be explained without diagrams! I am quite unsure of how it could be deemed as a stumbling block.

Please elaborate...

Sorry, didn't want to be too specific and give the game away.

I can successfully lay the injog card, but I can't do the undercut properly and usually hash it up spraying cards everywhere.

I'm using brand new bicycle cards so they are pretty slippy.
Does that help ?

I am assuming then you are doing an injog for a double undercut?

If so, use the injog with the thumb in order to obtain a break. To obtain the break above the injog, press the card DOWN as you push it into the deck. To obtain the break below the injog, use the thumb to pull the card UP as you push it into the deck.

The motion will cause a natural break, from which you can undercut the pack.

Aha. Thanks. Seems like I wasn't reading the instructions properly (or I need more diagrams).

Thanks, Dave.

Davebo.. when I first did this I thought the undercut was obvious and I have since started shuffling a second time to the TB (thanks to Daryl).

Basically.. hold the B with your thumb and just shuffle off until you hit the B and viola no more slamming the remain pack back ontop etc..

Also I found that holding the pack more horizontal makes it easier to "hide" but maybe that's just me.

Aha!

Of course if you get the RRTCM DVD set (I now have the R Paul Wilson set) it becomes even more obvious.

I was doing a false overhand shuffle (clumsily) but the DVD's show just how to catch the injog.

So there I am.

Hurrah!

Thanks for all the suggestions, particularly Seige with up and down pressure tip.

I found that when I first tried this I would lose the position of the card as I tried to push down or pull up on it. Just make sure that you hold the deck tight as you push or pull and you shouldn't get this problem
