Quick question from a newbie

Postby mark_c1975 » Jul 27th, '05, 10:01

Hello.

Just a quick question about file sharing / uploading...

Is putfile.com, or yousendit.com the preferred file sharing tool here? Just thought I'd ask before I upload anything.

Cheers.

Not that I know a great deal about this new fangled technology but putfile seems to be regulary used. As long as you let us all know where you've posted your files, I'm sure we'll be able to get at 'em OK!

There are still problems with uploading files, and as most movies are over about 500 kb, it's just easier to use putfile, which accepts up to 10 MB...

I've never used putfile.com for videos myself, but I have a question about it.

Can you download a video file from putfile onto your own computer, or are they only streaming videos. Yousendit.com is useful as you actually download the video to your PC, where you can view it multiple times. Is there a capped limit on putfile.com for file viewings.

Cheers.

There's no cap on views - the file will stay on the server as long as there's at least one view per month and you can see it as much as you like.

There's no direct link to download files however it is possible to download embedded clips. If you use XP just hover the mouse over the video until the little toolbar pops up, then click the Save As button on it - works like a dream! If you use another Windows, I think you have to right-click it and hit Save As or something similar, though I'm not sure.

I have XP and tried downloading the embedded file, but no luck. Which part are you hovering your pointer over to get the 'rightclick' menu appearing?

I tried it with your 'Emerge Triumphant' video posted here, which was great, by the way. As a pointer in this and another video I saw of yours, have you ever considered buying a close-up card mat? Instead of placing your cards down onto a wooden surface, you have a nice fabric surface instead.

My last vid was over 10MB anyway, so yousendit.com would be the answer, unless there are any more sites you know for hosting?

Cheers.
