Ulcer
Mouth
Eat
Cod
Goldfish

I think the problem is too many people are missing out several steps on the way to make for a shorter set of links. Eat to Cod just are not linked in anyway.

However, Eat-Food-Fish-Cod is linked.

I'd also say that Ulcer and mouth is a little dubious, perhaps Ulcer, Mouth Sore, Mouth - but then I guess we have all been guilty of the dubious (I am coming across as anal aren't I?). How about we all add in those extra unsaid steps?

Ok then, maybe i will be able to get this one...

Pepper
Salt
White (salt is white)
White knuckles (holding on too tight)
WhiteKnuckle Valley (at Alton Towers)
Rides (What you find in White Knuckle Valley)
Rollercoaster

Good enough you mean people you? Don't say no in a pathetic attempt of humour, only I am able enough to use this kind of 'funny'

I must be anal too then cos I agree with Bananafish, although I do think ulcer and mouth are linked if you turn the words the other way around ie mouth ulcer. So I'd accept that one. I struggle with salt and white, in the same way I would if it were sparrow and brown. Yes a sparrow is brown but the words are not linked.

Surely no need for another link word for British airways to strike :)

Scissors to Steel?

I think you need to be very careful with trying to use a word as a link word by just using the word that describes the colour or the material the thing is made of. You would link for example cut to scissors but I'm not convinced by steel.

Perhaps, I looked and every pair of scissors in the house were made of stainless steel. Perhaps if I'd used stainless before the steel?

That's where my link was.

Yeah Dat I figured that but still don't see it as a link word, anymore than plastic to scissors despite just about all children's scissors being made of plastic.

So for example some recent good link words are:

Cartridge to Ink because ink cartridge is a well known term
Ink to Pen because these words are naturally assosiated together

Where as Pencil to Wood in the same group I think is dodgy as the word wood is not assosiated with the word pencil although of course pencils are generally made from wood.

Again white to salt doesn't work but snow to white does because the word snow is assosiated with white in phrases such as snow white, as white as snow, or white Christmas ( refering to snow )

So yes salt is white as is dandruff but neither work with the word white as a link word cos there is no natural word assosiation as there would be with snow or man or board.

Can anyone else see this or is it just me in my own little world?

I do see your point clearly but perhaps it's down to the level of application?

What most people are looking for is a link - any link in fact and to most it doesn't matter whether the link is weak or strong. The fact is that as an example, people associate salt as being white and pencils being made of wood.

As we all know and have discussed, some people see things in far more detail and more clearly and will see the gaps between the links.

Maybe the issue is that the rules need to be made clearer or actually, it doesn't matter that much. In many ways you're right but perhaps in an equal number of ways to some, they're right too.

 I would think those words were already strongly linked, especially in this forum.

But to take a more literal approach, how about
